I love the fabric I've purchased from them.

Roseysue 11-01-2010 09:10 PM

You're right about raveling. it doesn't matter where it came from, how much it cost, etc. raveling is not consistent. I always wondered what makes the difference, but have not found the answer.

Roseysue 11-01-2010 09:10 PM

that fabric wheel is juct beautiful!

annette1952 11-01-2010 09:41 PM

I have ordered from CT lots of times with no disappointments! I really like the Essential thread. Great thread & great price. If I had to pay $14.99 for a yard of fabric I would have to quit quilting. My budget just won't stretch that far. So I try to find nice fabric at great prices. Thank God there are still online shops with great deals! Otherwise I would be lost! LOL

Ruby Y Campos 11-02-2010 05:59 AM

I have been very pleased with Connecting Threads fabric. I recently ordered their sample pack of Black-White-Red line (my favorite colors right now). Can't wait to have the time. I also ordered their thread which I have not had the chance to try yet. I would like to hear from any that have used their thread, comments, please.

jacqstash 11-02-2010 05:59 AM

Not as good as quilt shops - more like Jo-Anns - but nice colors

Roseysue 11-02-2010 07:34 AM

I think I will try out the thread. All the recommendations are stimulating my couriosity

delma_paulk 11-02-2010 08:57 AM

I think it is a bit better than Joann's. I've bought it before and always find the fabric or anything I order is top quality and they ship fast and your package is always neatly done.

Their customer service is very good, returns are easy.
Also have good buys on thread....a spool I pay twice as much for at quilting stores are very reasonable when they have a sale.

Ask them for a catalog and look through it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I love my Connecting Threads fabric great colors great fabric
not the top of the line but great for quilts I'm giving away and God only knows what will happen to them.

wraez 11-02-2010 11:13 AM

I got my CT order today, YAY!

15 yds of fabric, only $50.48. 13 different 1 yd fabrics and a 2 yd fabric.

I'm delighted with the quality of all the fabrics. Only 2 do not look in person what they looked like on my computer screen. I ordered 2 black/red fabrics and the red is not as strong or the design as large as I expected but I still like it.

YES, I love CT fabrics. The price makes it even better.

Also, JoAnn's fabrics have gotten very expensive! Their quality hasn't gone up but their prices have!

wraez 11-02-2010 04:20 PM

CircleSquare ... I agree!

I was shocked a couple of weeks ago when looking at the Christmas fabric at Joanns ... some of it was $9.99 and $12.99 and it was so thin you could see thru it! There was some nice fabrics tho for less, including some of the Debbi Mumm Xmas fabrics and all of it was 50% off.

The fabrics that were calling my name were put in my cart, I know it gets picked over fast and not worth waiting for it to get discounted more.

The Connecting threads fabrics are just great.

A lady after my own heart! My lovely DIL asked if I had ideas on what I want for Christmas...I told her there are a couple of quilt books I'd like, but they are pricey (for me). She told me to let her know the titles and the kids pool their money and get gifts for DH and me. That wasy it isn't so spendy for them, either.

The 'wasy' in my last post was supposed to be 'way'. Oops!

froggy 11-02-2010 10:08 PM

hi its froggy here. lived in vancouver wa for years, connecting threads was based there and had a retail store that was fabulous. they moved and only do it out of their warehouse ow. I love their fabrics. good grade of cotton is used and they are always acommodating.

Made a small error the other day stating that I got 15 yds of fabric. Actually it was 15 different fabrics, 16 yds for only $50.48

Here is a photo of what I received. The colors are not completely accurate, but close.

I got the browns/tans for a 'fractured 4 patch' quilt for my dd. And the red/black/white to add to my stash for quilt for my other dd. I added the kanji tone on tones to add to my Asian stash.

Several were on clearance for $2.48 yd

Anyway, let me know what you think.

I love their fabric. Fantastic prices - They have a weekly sales - Wed - Tues - usually the fabric is $2.96/yd - & their clearance fabrics are a great price. Also, they have free shipping for orders over $50. It's a Win - Win situation

ladybalcom 11-04-2010 05:32 PM

I like the fabric there. Have purchased it and used it. I think its wonderful

Jennifer22206 11-04-2010 05:54 PM

I've also purchased from them, and I adore their fabric. I've done the pre-washing, and non pre-washing before I've made quilts, and I have to say that what I received (from their Cheep Talk) line did not ravel at all and I only had to trim a tiny bit to square up my edges.

I've paid $10 and over at my LQS, and lost over 1" with prewashing.

For my money I love Connecting Threads. I think their fabric is wonderful, it's a good quality, one of the best I've gotten for the price.

lockiemae 11-04-2010 06:07 PM

I order from CT all the time..They have lots of books at a very good price..mostly 40% off.. I have an order on the way now.. Must have at least 50 spools of thread from them... Last year I placed a big order and they doubled it but only charged me for the single order... Being the honest person that I am, I called them and told them what happened and said since I saw one of the bundles I ordered was then on sale I'd like to keep it and buy it... They sent me a pre-paid postage and lable to mail the other things back to them but told me to keep the bundle I wanted for my trouble and it was about $20.00... So you can't beat their service... I always receive my shipments in just a few days and I live on the southeast coast...

tuesy 11-04-2010 06:35 PM

I really like CT fabrics. Just put in my second order a couple of days ago for more batiks. (they're my passion right now) Then I get the new catalog and already have a list of what I want to order.

I am rethinking my earlier comment about Connecting Threads. I used their mirage fabrics (after washing them) and in over twenty years of quilting/sewing, I have NEVER had fabric unravel (threads EVERYWHERE) as bad as that did. I tried to handle the strips as little as possible, but the threads were everywhere. I even changed the blade in my rotary cutter, thinking that a dull blade might have caused some of it, but that didn't help. I am going to be seriously rethinking the use of that fabric. I was so disappointed. The fabric feels great, but I spent half and hour cutting threads after I finished the border I was working on (for a round robin) and still felt like I hadn't even gotten half of them.

Susan49 11-05-2010 08:22 AM

I don't know about Connecting Threads fabric, however if you need fabric for charity quilts join a quilt guild or a group like Project Linus. They usually have fabric for philanthropy projects.

Alondra 11-05-2010 09:28 AM

I have never been disappointed by fabric from Connecting Threads. Ditto fabric.com and ThousandsOfBolts.com, or both Eleanor Burns sites. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've been very happy with my online orders from these and other sites. If there's a question, just give them a call and they'll be glad to answer them.

pkary 11-06-2010 01:50 PM

I've made several purchases from Connecting Threads and while I consider them superior to JoAnns, they are not up to the local quilt shop fabric level. I am a hand piecer and find that they fray easier with the handling but do make nice, crisp points and press out very well, holding their ironed in position thru the basting and long-arm quilting.

Oh, I hate to read this!

I have a quilt top for DD's FIL ready to be quilted. I noticed it raveled a bit during the making and was worried about that. I hope the quilt will be okay after quilting and washing. I was going to make my BIL a quilt with the same fabric line but I will wait and see how this quilt turns out.

mjsylvstr 11-06-2010 03:43 PM

I found it to be better than that what I purchased in Joann's...

I bought quite a large quantity for backings and have since used in in some of the quilt fronts also........

CruisingStef 11-07-2010 06:14 AM

I too have purchased from CT several times. I compare them superior to Joann's but not your LQS. Of course the fabric you buy at your LQS will be better, and you WILL pay the price.

CT is great for fabric, but you have to remember small articles ie. fat quarters, jelly rolls WILL rall in your washing machine. They are best washed by hand, and then air dried. Larger pieces can be sniped (corners) and machine washed. Hope this helps.
Stephanie

JeanieG 11-07-2010 09:19 AM

I find serging the raw edges is the best thing to do. Only takes a few minutes, but no raveling!

Don't recommend ANY pre-washing of the precut fabrics such as jelly rolls, charm squares, layer cakes etc. Much too tedious ! I've used a lot of them, and never had a problem. With darker shades, I just use a color catcher sheet when I wash the quilt. :)

BellaBoo 11-08-2010 04:02 PM

I ordered another sampler set of the batik fabric from CT. It should be here in a couple of days. It is so nice to have all the different colors for appliquéd and paper piecing projects. The batiks are very nice.

I disagree. I think it is much better than Joans. and their batiks are wonderful and only 5.95 a yard

So those of use that love CT ... we just love them, no changing our minds.

Those that don't ... no changing their minds either.

that is why there is chocolate and vanilla ... AND strawberry and sherbet and ....

I have been using CT and find it is very good quality, and the price, many around $5.00, competes exceptionally well as LQS fabric which is now twice the price , though not twice the quality. For those of us looking for Quality as well as value, CT is your best bet.
As to raveling, I find that it does not favor and particular kind of fabric. If it is going to ravel, it will ravel, no matter, what the price.
I appreciate hearing all the input about this. Sue

mjsylvstr 11-09-2010 04:04 AM

watch for CT's 1/2 price sale. I bought a lot for backing when they ran one of the last sales.......

can't beat it !!!!

awesome, whoever finds out about it first, could let the rest of us know. does anybody use their batting?? I ordered some but it hasn't come yet, should be here this week. I've only spent a small fortune with them in the past 2 years. This is the first time I;ve ordered batting...too bad they didn't sell the wide backing. anyway i love their fabric

I just ordered the HOBBs batting when it was 30% off...

so far, have only used the fusible for a wall hanging....
and it was really great......

I would definitely order again when this is gone.

I'm very anxious to get this batting to try. Fabricville has the warm and natural for 22.00 a meter and i'm NOT paying that kind of money for something u can't even see, lol
