I am going to try Hobbs poly-down batting from Connecting Threads. I have never ordered from there. Any suggestions on other "good stuff" I could get from them?
They have great prices on batiks and on thread. Check out their specials.
i buy most of my threads from them- battings when on sale- they have a nice selection of (gadgets/notions)
the fabrics (especially the 1930's lines are quite nice. i always order enough to qualify for free shipping :) |
thread -- they often have good deals on books too!
Check their clearance fabric section for good prices on fabric for backings. I also like their samplers. You can't beat the prices for strips, charms and 10-inch squares. I find the charm packs a good way to sample the fabrics. Then I can use them in scrap quilts.
And of course the thread. |
i get my cotton quilting thread from them. i really like it.
I've only bought a pattern but hear the thread is good.
They currently have books and batting on sale.
I LOVE the Pro line of poly bobbin/quilting thread that I just got - it's similar to Bottom Line, but it's completely matte and it's drapey-er. I think it's going to be as perfect for hand applique and machine quilting as Bottom Line.
I already liked their Essentials cotton thread and their fabrics. You pretty much can't go wrong with CT. :) |
I ordered some charms packs and really like the feel of the fabric.
I agree, they are great to order from and they ship Fast!
I love their fabrics and thread. Just a hint......I got an Email and if you use the coupon TRYITQNN you get free shipping on fabric, threads and such. It's not good for batting though.
Thread, fabric and kits, books and notions. I have never been disappointed by anything. Their prices on fabric and kits is awesome. In fact, I'm going to place an order tonight!
I recently made my first order of Thread and some clearance fabric.. It is nice fabric and you cant beat the price.
I got 2 spools of thread and 5 yards of fabric for 30 dollars. |
A great company all around, I have ordered from them for years. They have the best sales. Free shipping if you order enought, Not sure but I think I may have paid shipping once or twice.

Connecting Threads is my favorite on line store, and I buy from several. I've ordered from there many times and have never been disappointed. If the order isn't right, call customer service, and they'll make it right. They're wonderful! I especially like their clearance fabrics. It's high quality fabric for great prices, and they never "short" you on the fabric. You can't go wrong in any department.
I LOVE connecting threads. I love their thread, their book sales, their fabric (I've had a few thin solids, but all the prints have been amazing), their precuts don't have any price markup- and when they are on clearance they are an amazing deal.
I got hobbs cotton batting in the sale, and really liked it. It is thin, but most batting seems to be these days, but oh so very soft. I wish I had gotten more, but I can't order until next month, so I won't get the sale. |
CT is one of my favorite places to shop on-line and have always been very pleased with every order. I really like the thread also.
The thread is wonderful - I just received my first order from there and I love it - the fabric was very nice too - I will be going back there again.

Thinks for asking this question. I have been looking for an online shop to buy thread.
I buy a lot of my fabric from them since it is 50 miles one way to my nearest fabric store. I have never had a problem with service or quality.
They also have adorable kits and their service is impecable. I like that when ordering books, you can actually look inside and see what you are getting BEFORE buying. They often have 40% sales on books and notions plus sales on their fabric. Give them a try. I think you will like them.

I love CT! I order thread from them often, lately I have been ordering their fabric. If you look in their clearance section under kits, they have some of their fabric line samplers on sale. They are well priced and a good way to get to know their fabric quality. A couple of months ago, I got 25 fat eights for eight dollars and change. You can see some of that material in my charity quilt at the following"
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-162162-1.htm The table runner at the above site is one of their kits I got on clearance. The batiks were very nice and I had lots of fabric left over! I love CT! |
I bought alot of thread and fabric !!
Unlike everyone else, I had a really bad experience with them. I placed an order for batiks for a bargello wall hanging. The pattern called for 20 colors plus a border, plus backing. The 20 colors needed to be 1/4 yard, however, you can only order in 1/2 yards. It actually turned out to be a good thing because every piece was cut crooked and buy the time I straightened them out, I had lost anywhere from 1/2" to 2 1/2" of the fabric. My border fabric (1 1/2 yards) had a 1/2" seam 14" from one end. They did replace that at now charge however. Also, a lot of the fabric had chocolate candy marks on it. Good luck with whatever you buy, but if you do order fabric, check it over carefully as soon as you get it.
I love their thread for piecing. But my machine doesn't like it for FMQ. It breaks too often. But for piecing it is perfect and inexpensive.
I got a flannel kit from them and the material was amazing!!! I brought it to my quilt class to show it off and everyone was impressed with the thickness and the feel of the flannel. I just ordered some more for a baby quilt.
I always work my Connecting Threads order up to the $ amount where I do not have to pay s & h; they have a lot of good stuff @ good prices.
I've ordered from CT many times...thread, batting, notions...and have never been disappointed. Love their thread.
I have bought their batting and it is good. I have had no problem.
I love their book sales (40%). I have not tried their fabric or thread.
I have ordered from them for years. I especially love their prices on fabric. I have ordered books, patterns, and kits. There is always enough fabric in their kits and the directions are well written and clear.
Anything I have ordered from them has been good quality and speedy service. If you order on the internet I think it is free shiping.
Batiks, thread and clearance are my addictions there. Great place to order from!!
absolutely no complaints about anything I have ever ordered !
If you have a Hobby Lobby in your area you may want to check their prices for the PolyDown. With their 40% off coupon it is less than CT. I do like CT thread for a lot of my sewing and if it is on sale it is a good buy. I hear a lot of people say they like CT fabric but I haven't tried any yet. Good luck in your quest for batting and other sewing items. Mary
