If a stranger walked up to you on the street and just handed you, something like $15,000 and told you that you could only spend it on fabric and had to use all of it in one day, could you do it? I got the idea from a movie called "Brewster's Millions".

amma 06-12-2010 05:48 AM

I would sure give it my best effort!!! :D:D:D

Pam 06-12-2010 05:50 AM

Sure, no problem!

mrsdralshhadeh 06-12-2010 05:50 AM

believe me,, i would shop till I drop!!!! Do not know if I would spend it all,, but giving a running effort!!

Quilt4u 06-12-2010 05:51 AM

I sure could.

pollyjvan9 06-12-2010 06:01 AM

I could certainly spend the money, but USE it! I don't know.

aliaslaceygreen 06-12-2010 06:02 AM

I'd give it the old college try!

fabric=fun 06-12-2010 06:04 AM

Its a challenge i could handle - where's the stranger!

sharon b 06-12-2010 06:04 AM

 YEP   No problem

bj 06-12-2010 06:05 AM

Maybe. You wouldn't have to worry about whether you needed it or not. Or could afford it or not. You could buy the whole bolt. Lots of them. Bolts of extra wide. Hmmm...could you sneak in a longarm?

bearisgray 06-12-2010 06:06 AM

If one assumed that there were 10 yards of fabric on a bolt and that the fabric was priced at $10 per yard -

that would be 150 bolts of fabric.

MoMoSews 06-12-2010 06:21 AM

OH..If only..Darn, now I'm really daydreaming.

That would be good, but 300 half bolts would be better, then, SEWING PARTY at PAM'S Come and make some quilts. Rule: one to keep one to donate.

Beachbound 06-12-2010 06:31 AM

I would go to a LQS that had the best selection of batiks & get full bolts of everything. Then I would get a few full bolts of warm & white & warm & natural...if that would count! Full bolts of blenders and kids fabric would be next. Flannels!! I don't have any of that in my stash so whoooowee! Now I need to look at holiday prints..again full bolts please! I need as many bolts of 105" muslin backing as I can find, oh and whatever 105" blender backing too please. How am I doing? May I please get some of that garden prints...yes I'll take a bolt from the whole collection, thank you. Now that all of that is out of the way, I'll just stroll down this way and take whatever strikes my fancy. What do you mean I passed the $15,000??? I owe how much???? opps!

Quilt4u 06-12-2010 06:37 AM

That should cover my Paff dream machine I hope.

HeatherQuilts 06-12-2010 06:39 AM

Does buying a storage warehouse for said fabric count??

Chrys 06-12-2010 06:40 AM

NOT a problem! :)

You are so funny. You made me laugh on that one. I guess it would not be too difficult after all.

Moonpi 06-12-2010 06:48 AM

Not a problem :)

cjomomma 06-12-2010 06:54 AM

If I had a baby sitter I would go to Paducah and hit all the LQS's and go crazy.

shaverg 06-12-2010 07:27 AM

Oh, yeah.

CarrieAnne 06-12-2010 07:31 AM

Oh, YEAH!!!!! Sewing machine, my dream machine!

thismomquilts 06-12-2010 08:12 AM

I'd sure give it a try!

pab58 06-12-2010 10:08 AM

WOW!!! That certainly would make a huge number of quilts!! Way too many quilts for me to ever sew together in my lifetime!! So I think I would use quite a bit of the fabric for my students to make charity quilts!! They would love that!! ;)

I'd go to Marshall's Dry Goods and say pile up $15,000 worth of assorted cotton fabric. I'd let them do the work!

Fiber Artist 06-12-2010 12:35 PM

Without a doubt!!

Kathy N 06-12-2010 12:59 PM

I'm sure I could spend that with no problem at all. The poor quilt shop ladies would be exhausted at the end of the day, so I would do my best to just take full bolts. Now...where to put them when I get home.....that would be the problem.

CarolinePaj 06-12-2010 01:07 PM

Oh yeah!

Hugs

Caroline

Honey 06-12-2010 01:10 PM

I would go into my lqs and tell them that I wanted 3 of everything. That would take care of it!

thequilteddove 06-12-2010 01:13 PM

Hell yes! That's a lot QOV fabric! Lets see if I bought retail @ $9.00 and the bolts were a minimum of 10 yds a bolt, that's only 113 bolts of fabric lol But I'm sure I could get a deal at an LQS if I ordered special and end up w/like 150 bolts. I'd buy 50 bolts of various blues, 50 bolts of various reds & 50 bolts various creams/whites. See absolutely NO problems spending it and not only that it would produce approximately 100 QOVs! My QOV group would be busy for a LONG time!!!!

See, it's not hard to spend $12k of fabric lol

pookie ookie 06-12-2010 01:58 PM

I could do it in a few minutes. Give me the 15 grand and I'll show you. :0D

Jim's Gem 06-12-2010 03:24 PM

I would give it a great try!!!

Luv Quilts and Cats 06-12-2010 03:25 PM

I'd like to be given the opportunity to try! :D

Katia 06-12-2010 03:30 PM

Just fabric? Sure, in a heartbeat. Well, a few heartbeats. If I could spend it on something other then fabric I would be at the Bernina place in Vegas and tell them to wrap that bad boy up, I am taking him home. They have a long arm there with the computer stuff on it that is to die for. Give me a few months of practice and I could start a business. Of course I would have to move out of the bedroom to make room, or maybe the living room. Might even be a few bucks left over for a few yards of fabric.

brushandthimble 06-12-2010 03:32 PM

sure would have fun trying!!

Pam B 06-12-2010 03:33 PM

Not on just fabric...but I could easily spend it at my LQS. I would buy a new machine, one of those very nice cutting table cabinets, some software and spend the rest on fabric and notions. We can sure dream, can't we?!!

dkabasketlady 06-12-2010 04:46 PM

Sure I could - I'd get a longarm quilting machine and the rest in fabric please!!!

katsewnsew 06-12-2010 04:52 PM

No Problem! Now this gives me something to dream about tonite! Oh,, Sweet Dreams!

wvdek 06-12-2010 05:34 PM

In a heartbeat.

Now show him where I live so I can begin.
