Do you think you would need to use "Color Catchers" if you were washing a whole quilt?

Do you have to wash in hot water to get it to come out?

I've used these markers as well with good results. One thing I would warn about though is to keep the quilt away from heat until after it is washed. I has a student use these to mark her quilt and after working on it for a while, got bored and put it away for about five months. When she started working on it again, the yellow had started to fade, making it difficult to see. Someone had told her to iron the area and the lines would "magically" reappear. Well, they did reappear and then she couldn't get rid of them - even after a couple of washings.

I've used the Crayola Washable markers with great success. Washed out every time and no problems. I've used every color on white background with no markings left after washing.
I read you need to be careful with the Frixion pens if the quilt is left out in the cold. I guess the markings will come out if ironed but I don't want to iron my quilt each time if find marks!

I work in an embroidery place now and the little slivers of soap is what we use to mark the clothing so as to know where to embroider! I have never thought of that before!!! Works great and comes of with a spray of water!!

Thanks for the tip. I am about to mark a quilt and bought a special pencil for $15 at the LQS. When I got it home, the white would not show up well enough for me to use it....LOL I thought I'd go back to get a darker color, but maybe this is a better option :?

I love the Crayola Washable Markers. I had a quilt sit for 6 months with marks before I finished it and washed it. They all came out. I use the small point and different colors for different colored fabrics. I've never had a problem with them.

I don't pre-wash my fabrics and have no problem with the Crayola Washable Markers.
