I do both and was thinking about coming one in with a quilt. I have seen those make the quilts by bordering the blocks with sashing.....but are there other ways to incorporate cross stitching in to quilts? Any pattern recommendations?
I saw one somewhere, and they put a cross stitched block and it was the center and regular quilting was done around it.
I am doing cross stitch with quilting themes and want to put them in a quilt. Thanks for any suggestions.

Great idea :D
I always suggest that you choose your batting first, and then your cross stitch designs to match the size of the quilting requirements.(Ex: quilting every 4" then your design blocks should be 4" or smaller ) You don't want to have to quilt through your beautiful stitching. :D:D:D

You can also combine your cross stitched blocks with complimentary pieced blocks. :D:D:D

I have a wedding quilt I'm finishing, where I cross stitch the names and date and added it as one square in the corner.

I have made many. Here are some pics.

The Victorian house in the center is cross stitched and the green bushes have red beads for flowers.

The quilting is done over the cross stitch too. Not noticeable and keeps the cross stitched area flat.

The cross stitched square was frayed and sewn over the square piece of fabric after quilting it. It can be removed easily if desired.

When I was in college (forever ago) I bought a quilt kit that was cross stitch blocks. Don't remember how many blocks there were - are. It's still a WIP in hiding.

Maride - That is exactly what I needed to see. Wow. I love everything you did. And I think quilting over the entire cross stitch is ok too. Thank you. I am doing one with the 12 months quilt blocks and then will add blocks to match. ALso love the center piece ones. Make great gifts for family since they all have quilts from me alreayd. Wall hangings.....Thank you everyone....

Thank you also. I would not have thought sizing. I think I will take each of my cross stitch and measure and square up the size I want since I always make them on larger areas so I have extra to cut off. *H*U*G*S*

The blocks I am wanting to do are like this only each one is different scenery I will have twelve of these when I am done.
