In days of yore, when the crazy quilts were made, they were made as one big continuous fabric. None of these individual blocks that are made now, for our convenience!
Oh how I wish I had the ones that belonged to my husband's Grandmother now ... they became cow blankets first, then later the dog's bed! *gasp* <<shudder>> |

They look like crazy quilt blocks to me, so what is the difference? Is it that they are all one type of fabric and have no added embroidery/embellishments? Or ...? Thanks, |
I must say I really enjoyed looking at all the tuts and links to crumbs. Iam working on a crazy quilt right now which kinda resembles, and I am using re used dryer sheets as a foundation. I do wash out the remaining product, dry and press them before using. They work great and add stability without a lot of weight. All the fabrics I am using are silky, satiny and slippery so the foundation helps.:)

Thankyou, Izy. I think I must be a crumb/string & crazy quilter at heart. Love your quilt & yes: I DO have crumbs to play with.

I have been making these for several years--didn't realize they had a name. I called them "crazy quilt blocks" Where have I been--sleeping I guess.
