I love the scrappy look and have a stash of fat quarters, long quarters, and plenty of pieces that have chunks already gone for quilts....but I'd never precut pieces since I never know what I'm going to use. Anything pretty big and leftover goes back into its color's laundry basket and the smaller stuff goes into a grocery bag that hangs on my closet door....for taking to the art teacher at my school when it fills up.

I never cut my fabric for a project and after I cut it out I keep the leftovers for something else. DH couldn't figure out why I saved them until I showed him a project I made from them. I don't think there is a right or wrg way it's whatever you happen to like to do. Happy Cutting. Sue

I don't cut until I am ready to sew. That way pieces don't get lost. After quilt is finished I trim the scraps to the largest block size and keep trimming until nothing is left. I may end up with 5" blocks and 4" blocks 3" blocks 2 1/2" I leave in strips. I have boxes to put them in according to size

I never cut anything until I am ready to use it. My luck I would cut something and then would need a bigger piece than what I cut.

i never cut my fabric till i find a pattern to use it in

I started using my Accuquilt Baby-Go cutter for to cut whatever shapes will fit (mostly flowers) instead of throwing the scraps away. Never know when they might come in handy for applique

i never precut fabric

why would you precut any fabric before knowing for what it is to be used......
I change my mind too often to lose that amount of fabric. |
