I'd chose one of the darker colors also. Great quilt.

joyce888 05-26-2011 04:08 AM

WOW! I would probably use dark brown or black - whichever is the dark in your fabrics.

Karen's Kreations 05-26-2011 04:09 AM

Stunning! I love the reds - I agree with the darker red for the binding. I think a border would detract from the quilt. It's just beautiful.

QuiltnNan 05-26-2011 04:16 AM

i don't think i'd put a border on it. and i would use the darkest red for the binding. so, if putting a border on, i'd use the darkest red as well.

adorabowe 05-26-2011 04:18 AM

Makes me want to go camping. I would also use a darker red and skip the border.

SuzyQ 05-26-2011 04:36 AM

Gorgeous!

4girlsmimi 05-26-2011 04:39 AM

Your quilt is going to be beautiful! Love, love it. I've got to try a Bargello one day. Yours is an inspiration. Can't wait to see it finished. Great job so far.

MelodyWB 05-26-2011 04:41 AM

I'm addicted to Bargello's..this is beautiful..no border..go dark with binding!!

Drew 05-26-2011 04:51 AM

I would bind in either a black or navy. Use it as a stop factor.

mayra 05-26-2011 04:53 AM

Been looking for an easy Bargello pattern. I like the stip method. What pattern are you using?
Looks fantastic and I love the red!

Buckeye Rose 05-26-2011 04:56 AM

I think one of the darkest reds or a black would be best for the binding....you don't want to take away from the quilt with a border but you do want it to stand out and a very dark binding will do that.

Fabaddict 05-26-2011 05:09 AM

I just recently finished that in orange and green, it is queen size without borders- and plenty large enough. If you need it king size, borders will do it. I love your colors. is going to be really really gorgeous when done - heck, it is now.

dixiechunk 05-26-2011 05:13 AM

I don't want to say I told you so...but I told you so! I am one of those red people and it's gorgeous. I love it! Can't wait to see the finished piece.

ksea 05-26-2011 05:19 AM

Moonrise thank you so much for letting help you with this quilt and for letting us follow your progress. I think a deep deep red, almost black binding would be prefect.

Normabeth 05-26-2011 05:22 AM

Can't wait to see thsi fnished, red is my favorite color - this may inspire me to make one in red for myself.

your inspiring me. great job

sash 05-26-2011 05:38 AM

It is looking Awesome. Going to be a beautiful quilt.

Dotsie 05-26-2011 05:45 AM

Honestly I am not a fan for red and when I saw your fabrics some time ago I did not even reply. I am amazed, can't believe it came out so beautifully. Congratulations and I say again your quilt is going to be very very stunning. A dark red seam I suggest.

sabaker39 05-26-2011 05:50 AM

I think one of your brighter medium colors would give it a bounce and really accent the darker colors on the outside. Beautiful and I wish I had the courage to make one. Maybe this winter when I am house bound.

diamondee 05-26-2011 05:55 AM

Fantastic quilt, looks huge! IMHO I think I would bind it in a dark chocolate or black. Its looks like you have a little bit of chocolate color in there.

Jingle 05-26-2011 05:58 AM

Gorgeous, the finished quilt will be gorgeous too. I think black might be a good choice.

PolkaBabe 05-26-2011 06:01 AM

Looking good!

teacherbailey 05-26-2011 06:01 AM

I agree, one of the deeper reds for a border but I wouldn't make it too wide. Just enough to frame it nicely...

grannypat7925 05-26-2011 06:01 AM

What a beauty! You are an inspiration! I also would choose one of the darker reds for the binding.

Gatormom3 05-26-2011 06:03 AM

That is beautiful! I believe I would go with one of the darker reds for a binding. Introducing another color would not work for me. Lovely!!

Grandma Libby 05-26-2011 06:45 AM

Wow - That is gorgeous!!

sdeaaz 05-26-2011 06:48 AM

love bargello, this is a beauty... where did you get the pattern... always looking for new ones. Quilter 1234

grammo013 05-26-2011 07:07 AM

beautiful. When I am done makeing charity quilts this is next on my list. I have been collecting red batiks for it.

mimee4 05-26-2011 07:19 AM

This is an incredible journey you are on and you are taking us with you. The quilt will be beautiful - already is. Red - at first I thought it would be too much but it is perfect.

Jere 05-26-2011 07:30 AM

Now tell me how many reds did you use?

southernmema 05-26-2011 07:33 AM

Bargellos don't usually turn me on, but this is one stunning quilt! I would just bind in a dark shade of red that you have already used.

RDM 05-26-2011 07:35 AM

Lovely. Not sure I'd add a border to this but audition your fabrics. I'd use a darker fabric for binding.

cowpie2 05-26-2011 07:35 AM

This is a beautiful bargello. I love the colors you choose. For the binding I would select one of the darker fabrics already in the quilt. That way it frames it nicely but doesn't add another layer of busy.

CorgiNole 05-26-2011 07:36 AM

Stunning.

I think the red square is a lightbulb shining through.

Cheers, K

CorgiNole 05-26-2011 07:37 AM

Oops. Double post.

marciacp 05-26-2011 07:52 AM

It is outstanding!! I would go for a dark red. That would
tend to pull the quilt together and 'frame' the quilt well.
And I am definitely a fan of red. Oh, by the way, did
you go to a quilt retreat to work on this for a week, or
just off by yourself. I love that idea and would like to
do it myself.
Have a Blessed Day!
Marcia

I used 20 fabrics. But I bought 29 because I had such trouble deciding and planning.

LiveToQuilt 05-26-2011 08:50 AM

This is stunning! And, if you like red (and I do!), then putting on a red border would not be "too much". In fact, I think a red border would be perfect!

Sallyflymi 05-26-2011 09:02 AM

Great job. Enjoy your time. Can't wait to see the finish quilt.

colwoods 05-26-2011 09:14 AM

No borders-but would use one of the darker reds for binding.
