Thanks for all the postive comments. I am surprised at the number of people watching this quilt grow with me. It is very true that the help I got in starting this quilt is why it looks the way it does. I am delighted to know that the "red people" like it.
This quilt is so so so so fun to make. I am happy to have insipred others to give it a try - you will love it. I am just here camping for the week and then I return home to the three kids, hubby, and multiple pets. I want to get as close to done here as possible. I would like to know what you think I should do for the binding/border. I was not planning to put on a border. What color would you recomend for the binding. Someone did say that any more red might be too much :) Should I use a color other than red? That yellow square on the top left is not actually there, not sure what it is. This is the bottom half.\ of the quilt. Half a quilt |
beautiful!

I'd choose one of the darker fabrics from the quilt.
Its stunning, I want it! It would look great on my couch... :D |
maybe black for the binding if you don't want to do red. I actually think one of the darker but not the darkest fabrics would look good for a binding. I would also skip the border. I am becoming less of a fan of borders lately... Looks great!!

This is fantastic! I cannot wait to see the finished quilt. Maybe the darkest color in the quilt for the binding? Please post a pic when it is finished!
|
I love it. Keep it red
|
Stunning! I would use one of the darker reds for a binding myself! What are you doing for a backing?

And that is one stunning quilt. I love the layout. I think it has a real exotic Indian vibe to it. Very hot! |
I am not a big fan of red but this is going to be a gorgeous quilt! You are doing a great job.
|
That is going to be amazing!
|
Oh my goodness is that beautiful.
Never thought that I would be interested in doing a bargello, but you just might have changed that. :-D |
I've been following along and want to thank you for sharing your process. I have not made a Bargello, but by watching you go step by step I have now added it to my ever expanding list.
I love red and I agree with others that the binding should be a darker red. Gorgeous quilt! |
I love it!!! Keep posting.
|
Amazing...when is your next camping trip.
|
Just beautiful!!! Great job!!!!
|
Stunning! Red is my favorite. I can't wait to see it completed.

wow! Gorgeous 1/2 a quilt. I'd go with one of the darker red colors. It's a red bargello, how can there be to much red? :)
|
Thanks for letting us follow your progress!
You've got one stunning quilt in the works. And it's going to be better and better with each row. For binding, frame it up and keep it simple using fabric in the quilt. Anything else will look like a mismatch. I'd go with the darkest of your fabric, which on my monitor looked like a black-red. |
Wow!
|
Oh this is going to be just beautiful! Can't wait to see it finished.
|
absolutely stunning
|
very pretty!!!!! cant wait to see the whole quilt
|
Stunning - love your color selection. The yellow square could be a light showing through the fabric.
Bargello has been on my "list" and have had two pattern books for the Bargello for years. Seem to always get side-tracked with a "but first." A narrow border in the medium dark red and the darkest red for the binding might look nice. I rarely bind a quilt in one of a quilt's lighter colors. Just doesn't look right to my old eyes. LOL |
that will end up being stunning
|
LOVELY !! You are rockin

Looks great! I am a border lover. I love the way these are finished off:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-113886-1.htm http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-26251-1.htm What if you added 2 narrow black borders with a narrow red border or flange between? It would frame it up nicely and you could do with narrow borders and not add too much to the size. Binding - I think I'd have to lay out some fabric and see whether black or red would look best. |
Beautiful! Can't wait to see it finished.

I can't wait to see it finished. If you need more fun, you could make another and send it to me. LOVE the reds. I would use your backing to bind it.
|
Stunning!!
