I bought carpet blades at Harbor Freight the other day and was very disappointed. They would not cut worth a darn so I went back to my expensive blade and it worked just fine on cutting 4 layers. I guess you get what you pay for.

This happened to me --- was so mad at it, I threw the cutter out

Defective blades? I know many on this board rave about rotary carpet blades from Harbor Freight because of their great price, so I bought six packs (45mm) and split them with my sister. After using the first blade one time, I tossed it out because it cut worse than the blade I was replacing. Then I thought it was probably just one defective blade, so I tried another and it was just as lousy at cutting. Not buying blades from them again!

I had a similar problem with my blade and I contacted the company directly and they sent a replacement, no questions asked. You might want to try that .
Good Luck & Happy quilting |
I have noticed that even new name brand blades don't stay sharp as long as they used to.

I have a Olfa cutter and the blades got dull quite quickly. Well I should have purchased the Olfa matt too. I used an older cutting matt and it dulled the blades quite quickly and I can't afford the blades right now or a new cutting board. Lately I have been cutting my fabric with a Westcott sizzer and I found out that my cutting by hand my fabric blocks are more accurate.

I am not able to use some blades in my Friskar cutter. Can't remember maybe Olaf? It ruins the cutter by digging into the center spoke. Take it out and see if it is digging into the center plastic spoke.

I put my olfa cutter back together the wrong way, and had a terrible time cutting until I went to the store to read the back of the packaging. I only use the 45mm and buy most of my blades at harbor freight now. Occasionally I get one that doesn't cut and I just put in on the little sharpener I have till it does. I used to think the shrpener was no good until I finally read the directions.:)
