Just one man's opinion: your original layout focuses my attention on the beauty of the batiks you used in each of your leaves. You've placed your stems in different directions in a random pattern and used your colors so effectively that I personally don't see that you need to change anything. Put it together, quilt it, then admire the beautiful quilt you've created!

How about appliqueing some different sizes of leaves scattered between the blocks? It is a beautiful quilt. Makes me want to make one!!

Try taking 4 blocks of leaves and point the stems inward and then use plain blocks in-between. I would play around with your blocks, they are really pretty.

How about appliqueing smaller leaves in bunches scattered around. I see what I think are plain blocks of the blue. Can you remove some of those filler blocks and get a more random look that way and applique a few bunches of smaller leaves maybe in a plain block? Remove some of your leaves and use for a pillowcase, add smaller - possibly different leaf shape?. It is beautiful - I also love leaves - when I started embroidering one of the first things I made had lots of leaves. You could embroider some leaves also come to think of it.

the batiks and color choices you made are smashing. Forgot to say that in my comments above.

I like Comise's idea. They wouldn't look so straight up and down.

I like them on point, as in your last picture. That does make them look more random. I would go with that.

Okay, I know you said you didn't want to introduce another color but personally, I think that's what it needs. I love your leaves but I think I would make a large block of 4 leaves with sashing between them and a center connecting the sashings. I'd put the stems pointing toward the center.

You have so many different ways that you can use the leaves....... I just love them..... you can send some to me if you decide you have too many.

I might look at offsetting the blocks so they aren't lined up in rows - maybe add in a few solid blue blocks here and there so that it looks like the leaves are more random - love the leaves!

yes,that will help.such a beautiful start

Your leaf blocks are beautiful, but since you are unhappy, I would offset the blocks and add some more blue spaces to keep it from being regimented. It's a beautiful quilt.
