Wow! The blocks are beautiful, but I don't like them in nice neat rows like the first photo you posted. I would consider setting them off in sashing of fall fabrics like the leaves are made from. I love the blue background fabric, too. SEtting them on point is a good idea, too.

If you add a half a block of the blue background to the top of every other column, and to the bottom of the rest of the columns, you will break up that lock-step by offsetting your columns.
That would be the simplest fix. Your blocks are lovely! eta: Oops, I see maggiemay gave you the same advice. Great minds, maggiemay! |
I absolutely love the leaves and the colors you have used for them! I think your rearrangement that you posted fixes the organized look of the rows of leaves. All I think it needs is a bit of randomness to it. What about putting in a solid blue block a few places in the quilt instead of the leave block, maybe just 4 to 8 places, to give it a bit of a random feel? That would be easy to try quickly to see if you like it. If it works you have some extra blocks you could use on the back, or make a matching pillow!

Love the colors! I think the idea that leaves fall random is right on track. I would put more leaves at the bottom of the quilt and more blue squares at the top. If it still doesn't have the desired effect, you could even applique some leaves in various places like they are piling up at the bottom of the quilt.

Now that being said your leaves and background blue is really cool!

If you applique leaves you can have them tumbling and falling on one another.

BEAUTIFUL fall leaves!!! You could offset your rows vertically, or perhaps add some "blank" blocks between some of the leaf blocks so they will look more scattered.
