Did you know you were quilting with me last night? Yes - all of you. I was working on my current project last night & with it being the first quilt that I am binding, rather than sewing envelope style, I had lots of questions & some problems.

First problem I encountered was that I discovered I did not have enough fabric for my backing. So, I rushed over to the computer, did a search here for pieced backings, got some great ideas from you, and pieced my backing to my liking.

Then, I found that the piece of Warm & Natural batting I had was not wide enough. (are you seeing a common theme here? Note to self: buy extra!) No problem, searched again, found out how you have pieced backing together, followed your instructions & my batting was perfect.

Then, ready to start sandwiching my quilt top, batting, and backing, I searched again, made note of your tips and techniques, and armed with my can of Basting Spray (my new best friend!), I basted my quilt together! Easy peasy! What was I so afraid of?

Tonight I will be doing the quilt stitching & binding, so stop on by if you would like to quilt with me again. Hopefully I will have some pictures posted on Friday.

So, thank you for being there with me last night. Oh, and in case you didn't realize it, you pulled an all nighter. We were so into quilting that we didn't go to bed until 4am!

Been there, done that! Can hardly wait for the pics!

erstan947 12-16-2010 09:46 AM

I missed all that by going to bed early. I did get up at 2:30 and have been here ever since. Glad you had a good night of quilting.:)

sewgull 12-16-2010 09:47 AM

I had tons of fun quilting with you last night.
Let me know when we start tonight.

stewyscrewy 12-16-2010 09:48 AM

I am glad we could be of great service to you and quilters. It is our pleasure to do so. Cant wait to see the finished project.

amandasgramma 12-16-2010 09:54 AM

Yes, I've quilted with so many on this board! The information is invaluable!!!

Raggiemom 12-16-2010 09:56 AM

No wonder I'm so tired today!

MaRanda 12-16-2010 09:59 AM

It felt so good knowing that I had someone else quilting with me last night!! It was fun! Not sure I can make it today but I will try!

vintagemotif 12-16-2010 10:02 AM

I do that too. I have followed a tutorial for the Hunter Star, learned how to attach binding using the glue and iron method (which I love to use now), was inspired by an I Spy quilt, and I now have a long list of to do quilts.
I love this site.

stichinluvr 12-16-2010 10:03 AM

Isn't it just great having so many friends to quilt with and ask questions. This is the Best place to be!

loopywren 12-16-2010 12:21 PM

How lovely that you had all your friends to call on, great aren't they!!

scowlkat 12-16-2010 12:22 PM

Glad I could help, LOL! Unfortunately I was awake during your entire sewing stint - but it was because I have a miserable cold and was coughing my head off! Had to sleep in my recliner so I could breath! Nice to know there was someone who was actually having fun being up all night!

SherriB 12-16-2010 12:37 PM

The wonderful members of this board have helped me with many of my quilts. I don't know where I would have been without them. And it amazing, when you think about, just how many people are part of the quilts we make.

janetter 12-16-2010 12:43 PM

This was an adorable post!!! I have thought this way but never knew how to put it into words. Have a VERY Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year

amma 12-16-2010 02:36 PM

JAGSD 12-16-2010 04:59 PM

Isn't this Board the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!

JenniePenny 12-16-2010 05:01 PM

I knew I was. I'm happy to quilt with you anytime.

QuiltnCowgirl 12-17-2010 12:39 AM

Well...here it is 12:30am and I are making progress. Did all of the machine quilting tonight. Turned out surprisingly ok, seeings how this is my first time doing anything more than SID on the border of a baby quilt. This quilt will be 60x60 finished. A lot more to handle. Can't imagine a king size quilt. Tomorrow night I will do the binding - also a first!

Off to bed I go. No way I'm doing an all nighter again - a cowgirl does need her beauty sleep! :)

Aurora 12-17-2010 03:42 AM

Gee! I have a new skill -- quilting in my sleep -- who knew? And I must be good, there was no evidence of blood this morning, but I really needed that cup of coffee.

DoxieFive 12-17-2010 03:58 AM

We had a blast, didn't we. I got a little "pre-sleep" but was up way before the rooster crowed to work on my project and with you.

I'm so glad to have found this quilt board. There are always great ideas and so many people willing to help. It never seems to take too much time to find answers here. I don't post too often but still come in and get so much information to get me through problems and new ideas. Thanks everyone.

sandpat 12-17-2010 06:03 AM

I love quilting buddies! Lets do it again tonight!!!

Nolee 12-17-2010 06:56 AM

I THOUGHT I felt someone in my aura last night when I was up from 1 until 4, even though you are on the west coast and I am on the east. I was organizing my stash and you were working on a quilt. Get those pictures to us as soon as you can. That has to be the most exciting part of this board, after tutorials, chat, recipes.......oh, that would be everything here!!

Let's hear it for whoever thought up this idea and put so much work into it being the most amazing website for quilters around!!! Thank you from the bottom of our little pea-pickin' hearts.....that was for Tennessee Ernie, LOL.!!!

luvTooQuilt 12-17-2010 07:04 AM

Oooooh yes, many a nites with all you wonderful members!!!

KayT 12-17-2010 07:08 AM
