Which dies to get with the Accuquilt Go?
 

I just received my Accuquilt. I ordered the 2 1/2" die. What specialty dies would you suggest to purchase next?

what quilts are on your 'to do' list? I like the triangle dies.

I love my accuquilt. I have found that the dies I use the most are my 2.5 strip and my shaped ones for appliqué work. I have several of the squares and triangles and have not use any of them yet. I like the idea of them but most of my patterns are more strip piecing. I promised myself to try and use them this coming year and if I either don't use them or don't like them by summer I'm going to sell them and and get some more of the shapes for appliqué I keep looking at the train. I'm also thinking getting more of the strip dies like the 3.5 and 1.5 I find thoses are sizes I use a lot.
Before you buy check overstock.com they often have pretty good prices on them.

I like the 5" square..make your own charms......RPTPP, winding ways,HST,QST,2 1/2" square for L&Es, on and on........I love them all!!!!!

Unless you know of a specific shape that it seems like you are always using, I would buy the dies as you need them for a specific project.

I bought several squares and rectangles that are sized to go together, which I will be using to "process" scraps. I bought rectangles that finish at 1-1/2x3, and 3x6, and squares that finish at 3", 4" and 6". I figure that gives me a nice variety for putting together scrappy 12" blocks.

I also have bought the circular rag-cut die that you use to make a sort of raggedy cathedral-window-ish block, and a long skinny"wedge" shaped die. I'm using the circular die now to cut raggy denim circles and putting fleece squares inside; I think that's going to turn out to be a warm and heavy quilt. The wedge I kind of bought on a whim, not 100% sure what I'll do with that one yet - probably more scrappy quilts. I just liked the shape!

My favorites are the dies that cut angles accurately for me (and nub the corners to make matching easier). That means I really appreciate the tumbler dies and the triangle dies. Just ordered their new large flying geese die:

I also have dies for shapes I know would be hard for me to cut, such as circles, and for specific patterns that have matching angles where a die makes the cutting easier -- e.g., hunter's star.

I'm one who does not like the strip dies. I find it is actually faster and easier for me to cut strips using the June Tailor Shape Cut Plus mat and a Slidelock ruler to keep the mat and fabric from slipping (and keep my fingers protected). I should sell all of my strip dies and mats, as I really don't like them.

The advice to buy dies for a specific quilt is a good one. That way you won't over-buy dies that you may never use.

I checked Overstock.com and their prices are better than Accuquilt's, but they don't carry all the dies. I'm wondering if Overstock may simply have a large stack of dies purchased before Accuquilt changed their policy on pricing (which cut out all discounters and made Accuquilt the primary source for die acquisition). Overstock may not be able to keep that pricing for long.

The BOB dies are my most used. Cut six blocks at one time. I use the 2 1/2 strip and the 6 1/2 strip die a lot.

When a lot of shops were clearance out the dies due to the no more discount on price I bought all the Go dies I wanted, some I didn't know I wanted because most were 60% - 70% off from different online shops. There are still great discount prices to be found. Just have to search for the online shops getting rid of their stock.

My favorites are 2" triangle and the small tumbler. It's great to have the dog ears trimmed off and everything lines up perfectly! I don't have trouble cutting strips from yardage, so the strip cutters don't appeal to me, but a lot of folks love them. If you do applique, those shapes might be worth it; I don't do applique so can't speak to that.
