I sew in my sewing room, living room, daughter's dining room, I own a hair salon and have machines set up in there for slow work days, a group of my quilting friends come to the salon every other Sunday to quilt.

We live in two locations, MA and FL. When in MA, I have a sewing room that I just love. When in FL in winter, I have to sew at the dining room table. Our condo is small and the spare bedroom already has a queen bed and the computer in there. My supplies are in there, but I sew in the dining room. I'm thinking of changing to a pull out couch. We don't get as many visitors anymore, so I don't feel the need to cater to them.

You must live in a different part of the Pacific NW than I do. I have to suit up to go to the mailbox and am close to holding an umbrella over DH so he can BBQ outside instead of smoking up the house with the broiler. The way it's raining this year, I wouldn't have dry time to plug in my machine.

When living and working down near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I had to take my machine onto a Yacht. I was upholstering the walls in the master suite. The owner wanted to go sailing for the day, so I went along.

Thismomquilts - How many kids share the large bedroom? How big is your sewing room? How about trading? Seems to me to be the answer to your problem.

I have a large quilting room but I take my quilting everywhere and make sure I always have handwork to take in the car, plane, boat, etc.. I too quilt on the front porch with my featherweight machine. Not sure if I've ever been called a Redneck though!

I too have sewn in different places. The basement, kitchen, and living room. Now I have a spare room for my quilting. I've taken my machine camping and sat outside under the awning. I've quilted at a school board meeting. I've driven my daugher to school 3 nights a week the last two years and have taken hand quilting and done cutting in the library and in the common area. Many of the kids came up and talked and one of my daughter's teachers gave me an idea that I am using now on my husband's lighthouse quilt. I love sewing on my back deck the best.
