The only ones I know of are the older ones and your book should tell u, The new ones don't in fact that will ruin them.

I just bought a new Brothers machine and asked about the oiling and they said no. Just bring in every couple of years or so for servicing.

NO, Some of the New ones You MUST NOT OIL!!! But the manual should say or go to the web site and look it up or call Brother up and see.

I have a viking Designer SE and it doesn't have to be oiled.

I have had 3 brothers and the manuals did not mention oiling them but my husband knows how to take them apart and did what a serviceman would do. It is amazing how much lint and thread is inside where you can't see it.

NO NO NO. Read your manual! Some do not. Ask the maker of your machine.

Talked to my Janome dealer today and she said the 6600P was self lubricating and should be serviced about every 2 years. Keep the lint cleaned out, but don't take anything inside apart. Maybe she knows I would destroy something
