The brown doesn't work for me. The other colors look like yellow and peach to me (could just be my monitor) however those are both warm colors. Perhaps think about adding a cool color like green or blue, be sure to make it a more intense shade to make the others pop.

color values

You need three values. Light, medium and dark. Change light brown to a dark brown, then it should work

gramma nancy 01-28-2012 06:41 PM

I think they go together, but they are all medium value. It needs a really dark dark to add some spice, then you will have something.

MarySews 01-28-2012 06:58 PM

I like all the fabric but think you need at least one or two additional that will add some contrast -- perhaps a lively print with a darker background or even an almost white that will add some sparkle.

Karenowc 01-28-2012 07:02 PM

I don't like the 2 greens together. I'd use one or the other. Are you adding a cream for the background?

kaylfordsollimo 01-28-2012 07:18 PM

Personally, if my monitor is showing the colors as they truly are, I would trade the solid rose for a blue print (like the blue in the adjacent piece) and remove the brown altogether. Maybe a cream tone-on-tone as the background color.

SEE everyone has a different opion but the only one that matters is yours if you like it use it. what i see on the web now days it doesn't matter much i see all kinds of combos and most of them look good. i often have problems getting in enough variety

I am doing the same block of the month. I think your colors go together but am concerned that you may not have enough contrast. If you print out your picture in grayscale you can determine how much value change you have in your colors. This will make a great deal of difference in how your quilt comes out.

when making a quilt, the colors you use, should make you feel good about them, if not change them around, untill you do,the quilt is your master peice,go eith your fellings

SunlitenSmiles 01-29-2012 04:55 AM

everyone is seeing the color their monitor shows....i have some of that 4th (first in second row with tone on tone leaf) fabric and holding it to the screen....not the same color at all !!!!!!!!!

mizsandy7 01-29-2012 05:35 AM

Yes, I think they go together, but it will be a very ...what do you call it......not so bland, just a soft colored quilt.

quiltlin 01-29-2012 07:08 AM

I love the fabrics together. And, you could even add a blue and it will pull out the blue in your flowers.

kathyquilter34 01-29-2012 08:49 AM

I am using the Kona Snow/white..and a bright floral for contrast..I find it hard to group so many colors together unless it is a scrap quilt..JMHO..I like all of your fabric but just not together..

RUSewing 01-29-2012 09:07 AM

The question to ask is "Do I like them?"
(I'm doing the same BOM. Looks like fun!)

We all have different tastes. I like the yellow because it is complimentary to the mauve-ish piece next to it. Also, it doesn't look that yellow on my screen, it is more of a light yellowy lime.

connie d 01-29-2012 12:09 PM

The colors go together. :)

fireworkslover 01-29-2012 04:47 PM

These are all medium values. You need some darks and some lights. Add in a blue or purple to go with that floral print.

quiltingshorttimer 01-29-2012 05:31 PM

The colors go together well, but I would want a darker color in there too--otherwise they are likely to fade into each other in a block.

#1piecemaker 01-29-2012 05:39 PM

I can't tell too much from the picture. But, if they look good to you, and you like them, then that is all that matters.

Brenda M 01-29-2012 05:44 PM

The pinkish color with green dots, the dark grrn dots are the wrong color of green. it may clash with the other lighter green material.

RedGarnet222 01-29-2012 05:49 PM

My suggestion is to find a print that you love and pull the colors out of it for the accents and neturals.

sewellie 01-29-2012 09:19 PM

I think it needs a zip somewhere in there. To me it's too bland. Just saying ----

My time 01-29-2012 09:23 PM

Since you ask ....you don't have enough contrast. Do you have the red or green view finders you can buy at a quilt shop? Look through those and you will see what some of us are talking about. Remember "color gets all the credit, but value does all the work".

BETTY62 01-29-2012 09:24 PM

I think they look nice together. I will be looking forward to seeing your finished block.

hensandhollyhocks 01-29-2012 11:14 PM

I agree. Maybe not the same "mood".

Cacklinghen 01-30-2012 07:42 AM

they look like they do..

redmadder 01-30-2012 08:23 AM

I think you need a purple or blue.

dixies 01-30-2012 10:29 AM

If you can place all the fabrics together and walk back about 10 to 15 ' you will see if they will go together. If there is a fabric that does not go, it will stand out.

SandyQuilter 01-30-2012 12:23 PM

Yes, they go together, but they are all the same tone. How about adding a bright or dark or two. Will give any pattern more life.
