Wall hangings - I do not wash fabric, but will use sizing to eliminate any wrinkles. Quilts - always wash and iron fabric before cutting.

I always wash/iron fabric before cutting. :)

I also wash and iron as soon as I get my fabric home, even FQ's...even if not using them right away. That way my fabric is ready when I want to use it. As wvdek says, you have to warm up the iron for seams anyway. ;)

I iron and starch heavily. I like my fabric very crisp before I cut or sew it. Once the quilt is done I wash it to make it soft again. I found that Niagara spray starch will not flake on fabric. I can only find it at General Dollar Stores here. No other store carries it, not even the local grocery stores.

But, I don't wash prior to use....

I wash and hang outside on the line. I usually don't have to iron. I will if it needs it, sometimes on the folds. I usually don't have a problem with the cuts not being square or perfect.

I always starch the snot out of my fabric before cutting. Lot the crisp feel when sewing.

Thanks for all the advise. Guess I'd better not cut corners.. I'll be ironing like crazy for all 9 fabrics i guess.. I do want my quilt to look great! It's for Mom! :D

Even if I ironed/pressed it when I put it away. After washing the fabric.

Hate to fight with those creases.

Ditto, same here. Steam pressing straightens out the fabric fibrers, not just the wrinkles. Makes for much more accurate cutting and less squaring up later on.
