Do You Belong to Any Other Quilting Message Boards?

I have just discovered that there is a whole world of quilting information boards out there. I just signed up for the HGTV one, are there any others that you cannot help yourself from visiting frequently. I love all the information here, and the sharing. I do not belong to a guild (the politics raise my blood pressure, and I quilt for fun not for the gossip and back stabing), so for me, you all are my guild friends.

Even blogs about quilting, which ones are the best?

nygal 10-09-2012 05:18 AM

I have been active over at the HGTV boards for years and years...but when I found this one I now "live" here.

annthreecats 10-09-2012 05:19 AM

I belong to Quilting Haven, Missouri Star Quilt Company, and the quilting forums on Ravelry.

asimplelife 10-09-2012 05:45 AM

I belong to HGTV and some quilting groups on Yahoo.

Nhweaver, your comment about guilds makes me smile. I took my beginner's quilting classes from my LQS shortly after moving here about 10 years ago... I picked up enough "commentary" during the working part of the classes between the teacher and the employees which has stopped me every time I think about joining our local group. I prefer online with no strings attached!

QuiltnNan 10-09-2012 05:54 AM

i belong to several Yahoo groups, but rarely have a need to go there. this board is the BEST!

Tartan 10-09-2012 06:06 AM

I signed on for a basic member on www.thequiltshow but I rarely go there. This is my main board because QB is the best!

KalamaQuilts 10-09-2012 06:37 AM

I too paid a subscription to thequiltshow, and asked for my money back, just didn't feel the site was worth what they charged.
I know there are many boards, but this is the only one I use because I limit my on-line time to 2 hours a day.
The same subjects come up on all the board eventually...

SandScraps 10-09-2012 06:40 AM

I signed up for a few but rarely go there. This Board is my daily fix - I always leave here having learned something new, having smiled at the beauty of the masterpieces shared. Most appreciated is the positive feedback everyone gives and gets.

Murphy1 10-09-2012 06:54 AM

I explored the quilt world of blogs and belong to Myquiltplace.com which is free. I post my quilt pictures there so I have a place to store them, but this is where I spend each morning. I have learned so much from all of you and continued to be inspired by the quilts that are shared here. I also tried the quilt guild start up in our area and was disappointed, so you are all my quilt buddies. I love that the board has members from all over the world. Thank you to those that founded this wonderful site.

Bobbielinks 10-09-2012 06:58 AM

I belong to a couple of longarm groups; but this board is my favorite. I have met so many wonderful, sharing people on here.

LisaGibbs 10-09-2012 06:58 AM

I have tried other sites and this is the only one I stuck with. I always come out of here inspired and have a new idea or learned something. Not to mention all the problems I have had quickly solved by the great levels of experience we have.

Stitchnripper 10-09-2012 07:09 AM

I have tried others, but, this one is the best. Also the easiest to navigate.

Pat625 10-09-2012 07:10 AM

With all the wonderful people here..who needs anything else!!

Jingle 10-09-2012 08:51 AM

This is the first one I found and the only one I know about. I get free patterns from about.com but, I only look for the patterns.

GagaSmith 10-09-2012 01:32 PM

This is the only one I have ever belonged to and love it. I learn so much and enjoy looking at all the finished projects. Please don't tempt me to join any others. I spend too much time here as it is.

sewbeadit 10-09-2012 01:55 PM

This is the one I like and I keep. It is much more personal and very easy usually to find what you are looking for. Very good ideas and lots of great people as well as photos, etc. You can ask anyone anything and it is great. Have met a host of wonderful people on here. I only have time for one good group. Otherwise I don't get anything done.

Yakkity 10-09-2012 01:56 PM

I signed up with several quilting board sites and ended up getting rid of all but this one. this is my favorite and seems to have the the friendliest people with so much information to read and share. I check this one out most every day.
Thank you ladies!

Be aware that it's not really within the 'suggested guidelines' to promote (i.e., name) competing boards. Certainly can't blame them for that.

NJ Quilter 10-09-2012 02:07 PM

The only other board I participate in/with is RCTQ. It is a usenet group that I access via google groups. Rec. Crafts.Textiles.Quilts. That board has been VERY slow lately but lots of nice folks. But there are several from that board that also participate here. This board seems to be the most active. RCTQ is unmoderated unlike here. Both have their good/bad points IMO. I've visited a few others but the activity level here as well as the wealth of information have most others beat hands down, again, IMO.

Ditto......and like I used to always say "The principal is in the hallways".....LOL.......

Dolphyngyrl 10-09-2012 05:09 PM

I just joined sewforum.com and they have section for lots of crafts not just sewing, and they are all organized by category. I like it a lot

Joset 10-09-2012 05:45 PM

this is the only forum i am on and really enjoy it. if i was on another one
i wouldnt get any thing done. lol

ohiobuckeye 10-09-2012 05:57 PM

i like to read other people's blogs, so I googled "quilter's blogs" and found a website called something like "what are quilters blogging about today" that has a snapshot of hundreds (thousands?) of blogs. I usually end up lost in there....I also have been on other forums, but return to quiltingboard.....It's my favorite!

sewNso 10-09-2012 06:11 PM

i've found several other sites, but likewise, have dropped them, and just come here. this site is so easy to navigate. and so much info. anything you want. a lot , or a little. lurk or chat.

QM 10-09-2012 06:33 PM

Over the years I have belonged to several sites, as some have folded. Right now, I visit this and another regularly. I am a part of a very active and friendly local guild as well, but being rather disabled, on-line is handier for me than in town. We are having an art auction and BBQ contest on Saturday in support of our local fair. It's a real shame that some quilting groups are not welcoming. Fortunately, most are.

the principal didn't fall off a turnip truck yesterday.
she knows the difference between a reasonable question - with factual answers - and an attempt to "dis" our board or to advertise another. LOL

nhweaver asks a reasonable question.
so far, the answers have been factual, informative and respectful.

no demerits or detention slips necessary. ;)

sandy l 10-10-2012 03:04 AM

This is the only one I have ever joined. Have never even tried to find any others.

Sewstar 10-10-2012 03:14 AM

I subscribe to other blogs, but this is the one I can't wait to read every morning. I confess, I'm a lurker. However, I have learned so much from reading the posts on this blog. I gotta admit, the folks around here are so helpful and are so very nice. I get more satisfaction here, than I do at my local guild. Thank you Quilting Board members!

Amythyst02 10-10-2012 03:19 AM

I have signed up for a few others, but honestly have never visited them but the one time. This is home for me.

grammy1231 10-10-2012 03:36 AM

This is my one and only. I enjoy having morning coffee with all the quilters here and really soak up the wonderful advice. Learn alot............

ArtsyOne 10-10-2012 03:39 AM

I discovered this board when I did a google search for a particular fabric that I needed to finish a quilt. I'd tried the manufacturer and a slew of fabric sites, but there was a photo of it here in the for sale section. In order to buy it, I had to sign on as a member. Now I'm here twice a day looking at others' projects and getting inspired to try new patterns, new color combinations and getting great advice all around. No need for other boards.

gollytwo 10-10-2012 03:52 AM

No, this is my one quilting board.
I want to thank ohiobuckeye who noted the site about what quilters are blogging about today. That is a fun site.

sewrkristy 10-10-2012 03:59 AM

I have to say I like this one the best. I have found more links to information here. We are a quilting nation!

luana 10-10-2012 04:04 AM

There's a place for everyone - and this is my place.

Debbie C 10-10-2012 04:14 AM

I've never felt the need to expand to other quilt boards as here I've found comraderie, talent, joy (and even some tears). You are all so open and wonderful and I'm happy to share part of my day with you.

SewExtremeSeams 10-10-2012 05:14 AM

Used to belong to a small, local quilt group which had too many critics in it. Joined a guild but, have since dropped out. I learn alot from everyone on here and have grown tremendously during my 3 years on this board. Although, the change from the original did trip me up for a while. LOL

damaquilts 10-10-2012 05:39 AM

No other boards for me. I simply don't have the time. I do subscribe to The Quilt Show and I think its worth every penny. I learn all kinds of new things way cheaper than taking classes all the time . And I can go back to the very beginning any time I choose.

C. 10-10-2012 05:41 AM

THIS IS THE ONE!!!!! This is my morning fix for sure and the best one out there. I remember not too long ago when the format changed and many said they were leaving and didn't like it. Yes, it was a change and now we are all used to it. And I for one did look at some others, but nothing out there compares to home!!! This group is the BEST and most informative and just all around family. I don't post much, but you can bet that I am here every morning first thing. I love looking at your pictures, someday I will get it together and try to post too. Thanks to all of you.....

If you remember, this is what you told me to say when I thought it might go there. LOL.
GOod to see you here. When you posted, I got a few pm's saying Oh-oh........
Had to explain this to them.
Nope no turnip truck for you......

SO glad we don't have demerits or detention slips. I personally haven't been to the principal's office in over a year.
:):)

I may have been born at night, but not last night. ROFL.

Besides, it's Janet's/Ghostrider's fault. I like to follow her around.....She mentioned something I posted last year and I had to come and check it out. LOL. GOing to my time out chair now....

debbieumphress 10-10-2012 06:01 AM

Everyone have a fantastic day.........I'm sure you can tell my the amount of my posts, I like it too. Just not here as often......quilting does goe on......:):)
