I agree with leaving the selvage on. To me its like documenting the quilt just like a label does.

It is a quilt made to look like a bookcase. Some folks use the selvages on the end of the books. Here is a picture of the bookcase quilt I made--this is an in progress photo, it is still a UFO after 2 years!! I didn't use selvages, but bought fabric with writing on it and used it on some of the books. I need to get this out and finish it up I guess.

I make wall hangings and quilts from selvedges. I have added pics on QB of my selvedge quilts, look the up. I am utterly obsessed sewing with them.
