keep the 15-91 ! It is a workhorse and if you ever sew anything heavier, you will be glad you have it. easy to maintain & practically nothing goes wrong. other vintage Singers that are great are 301 (aluminum)401,and the wonderful 201. my Bernina is my 2nd machine since I started with the 201. it purrs and is so soothing to sew with. with piecing, you really don't need a zigzag machine. there is a vintage Singer Yahoo group that is always ready to help too.

Yes I know I should as the stiches with that machine are the greatest I ever had with any other sewing machine, I will definitly get it fix and use it. I will have to find another sewing cabinet for my Husqvarna Platinum 775 which does a wonderful job, even if my DH finds that I exagerate, I have a White serger and my brother wants to give me a semi-commercial sewing machine which is in excellent condition, I think I will have to put a loft over my sewing room of 9'' x 18'' ...hi hi hi

Sounds good to me! We live in a micro senior apt.

I have a Viking Designer II, a Kenmore 190001(I believe that's the model number) Janome wannabe, 2 Singer Featherweights and my Gammill longarm.
I like them all...use them all. The old Kenmore is a workhorse, very nice stitching machine...also does embroidery.

Thanks. I've been on the look-out, but haven't been successful yet. I'm sure there is an excellent machine waiting for me somewhere!

Yes, Get them both ,I collect Machines and taught myself to fix them out of necessity. And they come in handy when your Fav. gets the Flu or Dies,Heaven Forbid but it helps to have a Backup Plan!!!

Don't store Sewing Machines in the Garage it might Freeze up and you can't unstick it. If there's room in the house bring it in, Of course if that's all you have store it and make sure you run it every once in a while and oil it if it uses oil. I'd still have the extra machines it's something I Love!!!

When I replaced my Janome, I got it repaired and then kept it. If my other one needs service, I'll have one to feed my addiction.

Craigslist is the greatest. I found a Bernina Artista 200 (2004 machine) there last year. So, my 1975 Bernina 830 (a real work horse) became my backup. Then, I found two vintage Singers on CL. One is a 1926-1928 machine and the other I haven't done too much research on. Both came with all of the attachments. Last week I found a Singer 15-91, probably purchased in 1952. Essentually, I got it from the original owner. This lady kept it in pristine condition. The manual looks brand new. All three of these Singers have different unique cabinets. The day after I bought the 15-91 my sweet daughter-in-law came to visit. I took her to my quilt guild meeting and she got caught by the quilting bug. (it's going around ya know!). So, Sew, I sent her home with one of the old Singers and its cabinet. She is so thrilled and very excited to get started sewing on "her" machine!!! I have been considering a Juki TL-98 QE but that will be in the future. Linda in Washington

Yes, I have a backup machine. You need one just in case your main machine goes down as mine did. That OK because I have another sewer in the house and I also have a serger. All is will with me.
