I found this forum of sewers/crafters and they are all young adults. One of their post topics is Show Your Craft Tattoo . I think they all have one because there are ten pages of post. I was amazed at the amount of sewing tattoos these young ladies had. Oh, check out violentjanye's tattoo. My personal favorite.

added after I posted--sorry

Oh no I can't be a modern quilter. Hubby would kill me if I came home with a tattoo.

Pineapple Princess 06-03-2010 07:27 PM

Umm, I think I'll stay a conservative modern young quilter...

Pam 06-03-2010 07:28 PM

Hubby has a couple, he probably would not care, but I am already so old that I have to make sure not to catch a stray nipple in my jeans zipper, so I will pass.

cjomomma 06-03-2010 07:41 PM

Thanks Pam I needed a good laugh.

hazeljane 06-03-2010 07:42 PM

I have a bracelet of 9 Italian Greyhounds on my right wrist. My other passion....

Candace 06-03-2010 08:02 PM

Some of them are so cool!

bookworm 06-03-2010 08:52 PM

Ohhh those are so nifty. I'm very tempted to get a quilting related tat for my next one.

nlgh 06-03-2010 09:35 PM

I guess I'm old=fashioned. I don't understand why anyone would want something so permanent as a tattoo. The way God made us is good enough for me.

clem55 06-04-2010 05:31 AM

Oh Pam, that was great!!LOL Daughter and I used to talk about having a little rose put there, but now that we are sagging, decided it was a good thing we didn't, it would sure be a wilted rose now!

littlehud 06-04-2010 10:39 AM

Some of those are cool. But I think I'll pass.

Lucky Patsy's 06-04-2010 10:48 AM

Remember when "tat" meant a form of lace?????!!!!! :D

marsye 06-04-2010 10:52 AM

When I had my ears pierced years ago I bout passed out! How the hell do people put those all over their faces and other places??????!!!!!!!!!!!!

LucyInTheSky 06-04-2010 11:06 AM

Wow, there is a lot of ink on those gals. It's hurting me just LOOKING at them (I don't do needles). I'm stick with being a conservative young quilter

LucyInTheSky 06-04-2010 11:07 AM

And also, there were a few where I had no idea what part of the body the tattoos were on... is that bad??

justwannaquilt 06-04-2010 12:36 PM

I am a member of that forum!
I have a couple tattoos and have been looking for something sewing related but haven't decided what exactly I want yet. One of these days!

Things that make you go "hmmmm". Made me laugh. I have several that will never be seen, (except by my husband) and a bracelet, which is pretty clearly on my wrist. But I spent a few minutes twisting my head around and trying to figure out a couple too.

macgma2001 06-04-2010 01:11 PM

if i showed up with a tat, my hubband would have a fit, but i'd like to think i'm a young fun 55 anyway!!

hazeljane 06-04-2010 01:14 PM

my husband got me this way. (well, except for the wrist, which was a surprise to him a couple months ago.) I call him my geezer man, and he has no tats, and doesn't really get it, but he loves me anyway.

I worked at an executive level for an insurance company for many years. (very conservative.) and now at 45, my skills will either serve me or not, but I am no longer a slave to the corporate image.

SuziC 06-04-2010 01:20 PM

That's Hillarious!!!! You made my day!

Ditter43 06-04-2010 01:26 PM

NO!!! I am way too old to be a young modern quilter..If my wrinkles were seams, I'd be a crazy quilt!!!

FunkyMonkey 06-04-2010 03:26 PM

I want one so bad for quilting, I think I was just talking to Pam about it. I am thinking a quilt square with "Stichin' N Bitchin"! That would sooo be me! Pam, hows that nipple doing?

My husbands grandmother fought off breast cancer, the weekend after she was given the all clear she went and got a tattoo on her shoulder it is a butterfly. Now every time my husband gets a new tattoo she talkes about getting another one. She is an active 65 year old! Your never to old to try something new. lol

I have 3 tattoos. Mine are a permanent reminder of all the hard work I've put into recovering from a very tramatic childhood. The damage was permanent, so I want a permanent record so I don't forget that I have self worth. I drew all of my tattoos so they are very personal to me, and for me. But I realize that not everyone feel the same way that I do.

tmg 06-06-2010 02:50 AM

YUCK! I.m not old yet but even when I was younger I have never liked them.

Rainy Day 06-06-2010 03:45 AM

Tatts - you either love them or hate them! Those are great, thanks for showing the site.

Mari 06-06-2010 04:08 AM

Years and years ago, somewhere in the middle ages, LOL (as I am that old) in my career as a RN, I worked in an operating room. A woman came in for back surgery and as we turned her over, I saw butterflies tatooted on her gluteus maximus, (maximii?) both cheeks. I was fascinated by this whatever the reason and, whatever my fantasy was at the time so I went out and got one something like it--only one side though. For years and years, no one knew my secret, except for my husband. I am far far ahead of these younguns today- so there-further, I have the advantage of having an identifying mark in case I can't find my way home one of these days

My daughter drew her own. Our family has had some close calls healthwise and so she has them as her good luck charms for us. They are very pretty and have a lot of meaning.
I had a tough childhood and have now almost realized I am a good person. Good luck with your life.

off lurking for a moment, thanks for this link! made me laugh. my daughter and SIL have ink (tatoos) and I might eventually get one based on the names of my grandbabies (Phoenix and Aurora) assuming I have enough skin left without wrinkles! SIL loves skulls and Dez (daughter) likes Goth type stuff so I have been playing around with (a lot!) of changes to a Sunbonnet Sue to make her Goth and base a quilt around that for a wallhanging for Rory's room. fabrics so far are from Wallie, a zebra type, pink with white, orange and black flowers, and a pink background, slightly glittery girly skull print with bows on tops of the skulls! thought maybe plain black borders to separate and fairly large squares. this will be my first real quilt, other than some doll stuff and dog blankets. Really did not think I would ever post it here, but maybe I will! sorry for long post--

Same here. My dh's opinion of people with tattoos is not very high. Personally I don't care, but can't see myself getting one.

craftybear 06-06-2010 09:04 AM

funny, thanks!

sylvia77 06-06-2010 09:45 AM

No tattoos for this gal!

Yeah, I'm scared to death of needles so I never could get a tatoo and now I'm too darn old

Kinda like Tim Mcgraw's song "Remember When" where he remembers when a screw was a screw, coke was a coke, etc.
Everyone whoever tried to teach me to tat, got frustrated with me so never did learn it!!

RST 06-06-2010 10:06 AM

What kind of quilter doesn't do needles?
