depends what you are going to do with your quilted piece..if you pillowcase it, no, no need for binding,
but if you dont, yes, i bind all of em, cuz they are not done if they are not bound, just like a quilt.

Yes I think you need to use bindings. I think it will hang better too.

I prefer binding because it 'frames' the work. You don't have to use double fold french binding though. I typically use a single fold straight binding on wall hangings.

I know you have a lot of replies here and I haven't read them all. I am in the process of putting binding on my first wallhanging...3 sides done and 1 to go. I'm using a slipstitch to attach to the backing and knock on wood...it looks great. I didn't have any problems with the 3 corners either...very unusual for me. lol I didn't do the French fold...just the single fold like the previous poster.
