Quilting Confusion Syndrome.
I know I do. What should I do first?
Do I start a new project?
Work on hidden UFO?
Catch up on the forum?
See who's in chat?
See how many people have looked ay my posts? {Lots of us do this and I have the stats to prove it!!}
Browse books for inspiration?
Look at my print outs from the internet?
Decided which new technique or block I want to attempt?
Fondle fabric to see what will get me going?
Field trip to JAs or LQS to see what's new or on sale?
Dream about a quilt retreat, convention, shop hop?

Maybe it's a good thing I work full time to sort out my brain.

Anyone know of a treatment for this condition? I don't think there is a cure.

litacats 09-11-2011 06:49 AM

GwynR 09-11-2011 07:09 AM

I too suffer from this at times! The sewing machine cure works every time!
LOL!

JabezRose 09-11-2011 07:10 AM

Yes, I agree, the Sewing machine is the best cure. Go down, just start sewing pieces together, like for a crumb quilt. Random pieces, let mind wander and pretty soon it will get back on the path to Quilt Heaven.

I am so part of this club!

Too funny! Where are you at in NM? I used to live in Abq/ KAFB/ Farmington/ and Alamogordo. I surely miss it!

Raggiemom 09-11-2011 09:15 AM

So that's what it's called!

Crabby Patty 09-11-2011 10:18 AM

HaHaHa. Yes I also suffer from it. I also suffer from SMC. Sewing machine confusion (which one will I use today) syndrome.

dublb 09-11-2011 10:52 AM

I thought it was quilting ADD.:) Glad to have a cure. The sewing machine!!! I guess I'd better go to it now!

twixbar 09-11-2011 11:01 AM

I like the cure post. :)

Unique Creations 09-11-2011 01:22 PM

There is no cure!! It is a mental state of "The Triple P's" (Perpetual Project Planning). I have had it, I think, all of my life!!

IrishNY 09-11-2011 01:50 PM

I thought QCS stood for Quilting Compulsion Syndrome....

katyquilter 09-11-2011 02:22 PM

My dear daughter says we have Quilting ADD - we go from this project to that project to planning yet another project, we do eventually get things done. :-D :-D

MadQuilter 09-11-2011 02:23 PM

Now more than ever. I just reorganized my sewing room and touched EVERY UFO. heavy sigh

sewgray 09-11-2011 02:34 PM

I don't know about QCS, but I suffer severly from CRS.

wuv2quilt 09-11-2011 02:49 PM

And all this time my doctor couldn't figure out what it was
LOL :)

MaryAnnMc 09-12-2011 04:02 AM

We should start a support group for all of us suffering from QCS... oh, wait...

judi43 09-12-2011 04:11 AM

I think we all have suffered with that. Sewing helps, just close your eyes & pick a project

psquared52 09-12-2011 04:18 AM

I do suffer from this syndrome as well. My treatment is a vacation. In order for it to be successful, no fabric stores, no computer access and no sightseeing. Also helps to be terribly busy with something else (like new grand babies).
Seriously, it's a problem and a joy all once! Wouldn't want it any other way.

catladyquilts 09-12-2011 04:24 AM

I have a shelving unit of "kits" that I have put together of "things I want to make" when I don't know what to do next I just grab one and start cutting and sewing. I don't precut my fabric so I have a lot of fabric tied up in these "kits" that could be used for other things, but, if I use it then I won't have it for this project. It's a vicious circle.

Becky Mc 09-12-2011 05:02 AM

Cute

MS quilter 09-12-2011 05:14 AM

Oh, no, another syndrome I've got! I could not describe it nearly so well as you did, but I know what you mean.

fabricfairy 09-12-2011 05:17 AM

some times I have this really bad , Glad I now know it has a name .......................thankyou

vickig626 09-12-2011 05:31 AM

I look at all the fabric sitting on my shelves waiting to be made into something then see my sewing machine waiting to be used.

My stash keeping me going I guess.

MDMPanther 09-12-2011 05:51 AM

Yea!!! You are soooo not alone!!!

sguillot 09-12-2011 06:17 AM

A major weakness of mine is printing to many pattern, articles etc. from this post and the internet then wondering where I am going to put them all. I try really hard to keep them organized but can never seem to find them when I want them which leads to printing them again and then I am in paper overload. What's a lady to do.

Yes Yes Yes! But I also confuse work-related stuff with it; what a mess! Wonder if I could take my sewing machine to work?? Hmmmmm...

Sew and Sew 2 09-12-2011 06:44 AM

This is a cronic condition with quilters.

hairquilt 09-12-2011 06:47 AM

So glad to know others suffer(enjoy) from this disorder. I thought maybe I was the only one!! Love it!

ghquilter53 09-12-2011 06:49 AM

When I am in that state, which is more frequent than I would like, I tell myself, "It doesn't matter WHAT I sew, I just need to sew something." When I start sewing the confusion tends to go away and I can get focused again. Staying away from the computer can be toughest part and walking down those stairs where my sewing studio is located can be even tougher.
