I have a piece of fabric with batting sewn on top this is the best thing I have ever used to catch those threads. In fact all of my quilting buddies use them. When you are finished sewing or quilting just pick the threads off and throw them away.

Get a package of Brown Lunch Bags at Wal-Mart or wherever you shop, and keep one by your sewing machine. It is a lifesaver!!

I love this topic! I have been asking for a time how to keep all those threads off the floor! I am thinking that maybe I will take an apron and pin batting to the front and use it. I made a pincushion/scrap bag for my quilting teacher, she says it is great. I guess I'll have to get busy and make me one. This is a good time as I have lost a pattern I need and so have "had" to clean thoroughly!!! i used the pattern from Sew Mama Sew for weighted pincushion Organizer. It was very easy to make. Now I just have to find a solution for all the pins that fins their way to the floor!!!

I use a simple medium size brown bag taped to my sewing table, and most of the time, the thread, clippings, etc. go in, then when it's full, I dump it and start all over again, but there are always a few pieces that make it to the floor.

You should know that "Quilters come with strings attached." I always try to get my threads in the trash, but some always wind up on the floor. I have a handy little carpet sweeper by Bissell that cost me about $30.00 at Walmart. It picks up stray pins, threads and even dog hair. Cuts down on the mess and helps between vacuumings.

I put mine clippings in a little cube kleenex box. If I am really good, when it is full I take it out and put it near our bird bath so the birds can use it for nesting material.

This is such a cute idea! I bet they love it! I am going to buy tissues in one of those boxes next time! Maybe I can fill it by spring! Thank you for the great idea! Kitty

To often i throw them on the floor. Sometimes hit the wastebasket by my machine. Always have to vacuum them up later.
