here is a small free pattern

I see it has the typical feathers, but the star is completely different from any 'feathered star' pattern I've done or seen. I really like this one!
I'm hoping someone will come up with a name. Looks like it could be strip pieced?? |

you can look at this site and see if it is what your looking for I hope it goes thru for you |

http://www.womenfolk.com/quilt_patte...y/mornstar.htm Or just google Amish star quilt pattern you'll come up with a lot of different ones so you'll have to choose which one you want. Hope this helps some... |
Looks like something Judy Martin would do.
|
definately a feathered star variation
|
It looks like the lone star that is in one of my books. It looks like the color placement is creating the illusion of the diamond tips. My book is Singer, Quilting by Machine. In case you have it you can look on page 18./Regards, Dorothy

Do you remember where you got that picture from? That might help.
|
It's hard to tell from here but the center looks like one of those nine patch stars (I am sure that is not what they are called) You know the kind that starts with a solid square in the middle, flying geese at 12, 3, 6, and 9 oclock and squares in the corners but no squares in those corners. I cannot tell from the picture. are the outside stars solid strips or pieces like a normal star. whichever the case it looks like alot of inside seams to me. A nemesis to be sure. Good luck.

This would get you the eight point star in the centre and then you would have to figure out how to put the different strips around it and then finish with the feathers. |
I have been googling it for a month now and can't find it.
|
The feathers are made from HSTs. I have seen the pattern too some place but I can't recall where.

scroll down and it's about the eighth row on the right

HST is half square triangle
|
I don't know the pattern but that sure is pretty.
|
Can't help you but is nice.

I found a video for the log cabin feathered star but I can't get it to run...you might try

I'll be watching this thread. I'd like the pattern too.
|
The center star appears to be built as a log cabin, starting with a diamond, and adding on on only two sizes, until the desired size is reached, and hst "feathers" are added. Since the field is log cabins, you may want to look through some log cabin books to find it.
|
Someday I hope I am experienced enough to piece this pattern. Oh, the woes of learning with patience when there are so many beautiful quilts to be made!!!
|
beautiful quilt

Beautiful quilt but I don't know the name. Good luck finding out.
|
For the block in the very center of the star, I found two different methods of assembly.
1) square with halfsquare triangles added at edges 2) using diamond shaped pieces Will try to figure out how to get the pics from the design sketchbook of EQ7 to here. Haven't figured out how to do everything in it yet, but having fun playing with it! |

Let's see if this works for getting the pictures...
square with hst star diamond star |
Well, you can certainly SEE them!
|
it looks like a quilt found in Amish stores or a business that produces more original settings in quilts.
I have seen similar at a business in Indiana that uses Amish quilters for their supply. Unless someone comes up with a pattern source, it most likely will have to be drafted out. |
I can see that it would work with the diamond star. Will have to practice that . Thanks so much for the info.

Here is what I have. does this look close to the star you are looking for I know that you want the complete pattern, but I think that one could figure out how to add the log cabin blocks to this. Hope the pic works

Ok then I have this pattern also, which is made like a log cabin with strips. Might this work?
|
I make a Shining Star quilt that is made with 1/2 square tiangles. The center looks like yours. It continues out like a lone-star but smaller. It is not feathered though.

FYI,Igot the pattern for this on the hgtv site or from
simply quilts, episode QLT-1112. designer,Debby Maddy. PEG |
I do not have the pattern but you might want to research Marsha McCloskey's feathered star quilt blocks - I have a book with similar blocks but nothing like the one you have. Ten favorite Le Moyne based stars - I do not know it this will help - but a start -
