This is a quilting board but we all relate to the other creative outlets; sewing clothes, making dolls and purses, gardening, baking, painting. We are all so talented. So how do you turn down the offer of a FREE 60" Jack loom?
It's now sitting in my living room like a tombstone, (my sanctuary, by the way, far from the TV) and it can't go any further into the house. I have to give away a sofa and if I'm lucky it will just fit the same footprint. Am I interested in weaving? Always was, like so many other things. My life is tooooooooooo short for all my interests.

I am the same way. Nothing as big as a loom but so many other must have craft items. My hubby says I just like to "experience" different things. Boxes of scrapbooking stuff, totes filled with candle making items, a few closets full of photography necessities, and won't even get started on my baking addiction; which is just as bad as my fabric/quilting addiction.

I love all my hobbies and the older I get the more time I have to devote to them, but yes I have a hard time focusing on just one.

i have started to cut back on all the other crafts/pass times i've participated over the years- i used to try to learn a new craft every year--knit, crochet, weave, hook, paint, basket weave, ... the list goes on and on...and at times really took up alot of space-time-energy-and funds
over the past 4-5 years i have (tried) to stick with learning a new quilting technique-ya know= paper piecing, applique, ect...
but sometimes i do (get tired) of quilting and just want to knit something- or weave something-
it's not a bad thing to have lots of interests. nice to have many to choose from- what ever strikes your fancy at the moment :)

I'm way older than most posters on the board & that's one thing I'm thankful for....other interests have faded away.

Quilting is such a part of my life,no room/no interest in other stuff.Reading was my 1st love & now,I can hardly find time to read a book. :-D

I can relate. I now have an art table on one side of my bedroom/sewing room with all kinds of supplies. My first idea was to do art quilts. I have all the tools, plus dvds, etc. Made one art quilt.I realized that all quilts are art quilts with wonderful color play, optical illusions, etc. I just invested in Derwent intense color pencils. Now I would like to make mandalas on fabric or draw zentangles. The list goes on and on but I am thankful that in my retirement years, I have lots to look forward to and hope that I can accomplish some of those projects. I am now looking at quilting books with patterns that I don't even remember seeing. :-D :roll: :-D

Isn't it a shame when we don't read like we used too! I used to read, read, read. Now, I read on this board, then go to work, maybe get in a few minutes to quilt.

Nothing like your loom (although I would love that!), but I'm the same way.

In addition to working 50 or more hours a week, I build furniture, garden, write for publication, quilt, a little bit of scrap-booking and stamping, make jewelry, and sew clothes.

Quilting and furniture making are the longest running as I started both while in junior high nearly 40 years ago.

ETA: Forgot reading! I love to read and fit that in by using audio books on my iPod and listening while driving.

Wow. I could not have turned it down, but I am a weaver first and quilter second. But if anyone wants to buy a going weaving business, I would sell mine. I have 5 looms and it will take 2000 sq. feet to set them all up. But I get $16.00 per sq. foot to the design industry. This takes a lot of time. I should be out there now. My dear significant other died on July 18 and my heart is not in this anymore.

If you know of a weaver looking for a business, I've had it for 15 years, but am now 65, have them contact me.

I do have other interests than quilting and find time to do them. I try to multi task, so when I'm running and working out I listen to audio books. Then when I get off work I can quilt.
