To smagruder: you mentioned your tiny '8 1/2' size shoe. I am a women with a size 14. So yours is tiny to me.

Girl I thought I had big feet. Have to buy my Nikes in the mens dept. I wear a 10 1/2 in man athletic shoes. I wore a size 10 from 6th grade on. My mama use to tell me as tall as I was that I would look real funny with little bitty feet. Hey sisters in arms or feet. My DGD is only 6 & already wears a big kids size shoe. I think she is cursed to have feet like grammie.
Well I guess we can say that 99% of us sew barefooted.

It is so automatic to me that I have never thought about it before. She went on and on about it and told all of my other SIL. I can't sew with my shoes on. I can do anything I want in my own home, but I am curious to see if anyone else sews barefoot.

I am ALWAYS barefoot while sewing!!! Shoes not allowed in my house.

Most of the time I am barefoot. In the winter I wear slippers or sometimes socks.

Always sew barefoot. Shoes are the first thing to come off when I get home from work.

Yes and most of the ladies in my quilt chapter kick off their shoes to sew. I have a problem when we take our machines to the rec center because I won't take my shoes off and have problems controlling the machine with the shoe on. With my one Pfaff, the design of the foot pedal caused a lump to form on the outside edge of the right foot and at that time, for a full year, I had to wear shoes to sew with that machine. I noticed that that area of my foot was sitting off the right corner of the
foot pedal causing fluid to form there and the podiatrist inserted a pad inside my shoes. During that year, I bought a new Pfaff with a different foot pedal, a larger one and I am back to sewing barefoot again.

I do all of it I guess. Barefoot, socks, slippers, slippers with grips and shoes. Don't really have a preference. But I do go barefoot quite often.
