I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this block or the name of it?

moonwork42029 02-13-2011 11:11 AM

too cute, but I'm no help today good luck

fayza 02-13-2011 11:17 AM

It looks a little too complicated for me. It's very pretty tho :)

Vanuatu Jill 02-13-2011 11:21 AM

looks sort of like a modified dresden and GFG combined. I can't tell if it's appliqued-It might even be foundation pieced, with the center appliqued-cute though!

rusty quilter 02-13-2011 11:27 AM

Not sure because the outside points are not even. It looks like an octagon with Peter Rabbit either embroidered or appliqued on top. The points you could create yourself, and make them even so they have better symmetry.

And I kinda like the wonkiness for this block. Go figure.

charmpacksplus 02-13-2011 11:39 AM

I think it might be paper pieced.

pamesue 02-13-2011 11:45 AM

not sure either..but I like it...

starshine 02-13-2011 11:48 AM

I haven't seen it before either. Where is the picture from? It is cute.

M.E.H. 02-13-2011 12:18 PM

Welcome to the QB. I like the block. I hope somebody can name it for you.

4dogs 02-13-2011 12:23 PM

I would love to do this one..too cute!

weezie 02-13-2011 12:46 PM

It's VERY cute and it would be easy to draw templates for all the pieces. The inner portion of the petal is one piece and the petal points are 2 pieces, which require set-in seams to join the 2-section petal points to the 1 section petal portion, or you could make the inner petal 2 pieces also. I also like the fact that the petals are wonky; it's very charming.

I saw this quilt on Embroidery Library. I think it is so cute. I'm kinda new to this but sometimes I can figure them out, not this time. I appreciate all of you so much for taking the time to answer me. I would have asked on Embroidery Library but there is no way to ask the person that sent the picture in. If there is, I am not aware of it.

What an adorable quilt block

Janetlmt 02-13-2011 03:01 PM

I have that embroidery pattern for my machine..but have never seen it in a block like that. Where did the picture come from?

luckylindy333 02-13-2011 03:03 PM

Very cute, it is uneven, which is part of the charm. You could make templates very easily... I love it.

dgsmom 02-13-2011 03:08 PM

sorry, i can't help but it is very pretty

jacee kay 02-13-2011 03:09 PM

I don't know what it is but it is beautiful

greensleeves 02-13-2011 03:14 PM

Welcome to the board, I think we are all in agreement-that block is really cute. I too like the fact that its a little wonky, each 2 set piece is a mirror image. I also agree you could draw this yourself with lines where you would sew the pieces together. Make a rough sketch and refine from there.

susie-susie-susie 02-13-2011 03:31 PM

It looks like the points are done in pairs with one side longer than the other. I think it wouldn't be too hard to draft. Just sit down with your ruler with angles on it and try to draw it. I bet you can do it and then paper piece it. Good luck.

#1piecemaker 02-14-2011 06:38 AM

Not me!! I love it though. Hope you find out what it is. It is way too cute to not have a name.

kathyquilter34 02-14-2011 06:52 AM

If you figure/find out what the name is please post

shrabar 02-14-2011 06:59 AM

It looks like it was made using templates I bought books with templates & it looks like one of them... Happy Valentine's Day

Aurora 02-14-2011 07:00 AM

I found this block, it looks like it might have been used as the base of the block you are asking about.

Shirlrh 02-14-2011 07:23 AM

So cute! I wonder how it is made also.

Baba71 02-14-2011 07:27 AM

Aurora thank you for the pattern. That sure is a cute block. I think my DGG would love a quilt like that.

jad1044 02-14-2011 08:24 AM

It looks to me like a perfect block - what garden with a bunny in it is ever all the same height in plants, leaves, etc? Just cut some squares, then cut them at "off" angles and piece it together till you get something about like what the picture shows with the plain piece in the middle - then applique or embroider your emblem in the center whether it is a bunny, chick, duckling - or whatever... just a fun block from what I see - I have never seen another like it - so don't know if it has a name............

IDquilter 02-14-2011 09:54 AM

No, can't say that I know this block but I LOVE IT!! Darling!!!

jeanneb52 02-14-2011 01:30 PM

I love it I printed out the templates, no off to my "glass guy". He cuts templates in acrylic for me!

susieqgc1 02-14-2011 01:41 PM

Oh my gosh Aurora, it does look like it. Wow, it looks complicated to me. Don't think I'm that good to make something like this. Thank you so much for going to the trouble for looking for me. You are so kind.

cjaye44 02-14-2011 01:58 PM

Doesn't ring a bell but it sure is a nice way to frame that embroidery.

pojo 02-14-2011 02:12 PM

It is a cute block.

supergma 02-14-2011 03:21 PM

Look closely at it. There are basically two squares there. Perhaps you could cut templets from that. I too, like this wonky block.

IBQUILTIN 02-14-2011 04:24 PM

Sew cute. But I've never seen it before.

Alondra 02-14-2011 04:30 PM

How precious! When you find out, please let us know what the name of the block is and where we can find instructions. Thanks!
