This was made by my great-greatgrandmother in 1833. I have checked everywhere and cannot find this pattern.

Can anyone help?

janRN 07-03-2011 08:24 AM

Variation of Kansas Troubles......?

eparys 07-03-2011 02:31 PM

Ok looked in EQ and another program I have - Looks like it may be a variation of Kansas Troubles quilt block

cctx. 07-03-2011 06:59 PM

It looks like Kansas Troubles to me.

Tartan 07-03-2011 07:33 PM

Might be a variation of Double T? Try www.quilterscache for lots of quilt blocks.

jitkaau 07-04-2011 02:49 AM

I think it is G.Grandma's version of Kansas Troubles.

Lindsey 07-04-2011 03:03 AM

Yes, It looks like Kansas Troubles to me too. Perhaps grandmoms version. haha I see someone wrote the same thing.

Lindsey 07-04-2011 03:05 AM

jolo 07-04-2011 04:02 AM

tmg 07-04-2011 05:05 AM

What a treasure you have.

flybreit 07-04-2011 05:08 AM

You may be able to get help from your state historical society, or the state where your great, great grandmother lived when she made the quilt - it may be a local variation...

What a wonderful treasure! It's wonderful it found it's way to you to love and appreciate it.

Great-great granny 07-04-2011 05:09 AM

It is a Kansas Troubles; however your GGM made it uniquely her own by putting a colored square instead of a white. If you look at the photo you'll see the outside corner square is set in. In a KT block that corner square is white/background. Lovely idea and a lot more interesting.

Lavada 07-04-2011 06:17 AM

beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lynneander 07-04-2011 06:34 AM

I don't know the name, but just wanted to say that you have an amazing treasure in that beautiful quilt.

arimuse 07-04-2011 06:37 AM

don't know the name, but I would draw it up on a grid and make my own pattern calling it "monster mouth" - it makes me think of a mouth full of teeth, might make a cute Halloween stlye wall hanging or lap quilt. Maybe red, white for the mouth part and blacks and theme fabric for the HST. sharet

Yooper32 07-04-2011 07:56 AM

No idea, but what a lovely treasure you have there.

Barbie 07-04-2011 08:09 AM

I agree; it is a variation of the Kansas Troubles. I checked a 1980 edition of The Collector's Dictionary of Quilt Names & patterns, thinking surely an old pattern would be listed there. KT was the only one even close. You have a real treasure.

Farm Quilter 07-04-2011 08:30 AM

Looks like Delectable Mountains with the longest strips set backwards from DM. What a lovely heirloom!

beautiful quilt.

BarbaraSue 07-04-2011 09:37 AM

I am no expert, but in looking at the dark and not the light, it looks like a building- silo perhaps? or capitaol building? Could be her original block. It is beautiful!:)

trolleystation 07-04-2011 09:39 AM

Wonderful, wonderful quilt. I think that it is a version of Delectable Mountains.
