Ohhhh what a rare treasure you have there! I would kill to have something that my great grandmother made :) Most especially a quilt!
That is beautiful and I love the fabrics in it!
That may be an original pattern. Double treasure.
Congratulations, this is lovely .....no name for the pattern though.
I don't have a clue, but love it.
Wonderful quilt. You have really been blessed with an heirloom there. Enjoy. Don't know the name of block but delectable mountains sounds good to me.
What a great quilt!! I do not know the answer however!
This one might be original. Can't find it in my books.
Ozark Mountains......?
Variation of Kansas Troubles......? |
Ok looked in EQ and another program I have - Looks like it may be a variation of Kansas Troubles quilt block

It looks like Kansas Troubles to me.
Might be a variation of Double T? Try www.quilterscache for lots of quilt blocks.
I think it is G.Grandma's version of Kansas Troubles.
Yes, It looks like Kansas Troubles to me too. Perhaps grandmoms version. haha I see someone wrote the same thing.
Yes, It looks like Kansas Troubles to me too. Perhaps grandmoms version. she just got her centers inverted.

It is gorgeous! I checked Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of patterns and it is not in there. Must be original.
What a treasure you have.
You may be able to get help from your state historical society, or the state where your great, great grandmother lived when she made the quilt - it may be a local variation...
What a wonderful treasure! It's wonderful it found it's way to you to love and appreciate it. |
WOW - what a beautiful & special treasure to have.

I don't know the name, but just wanted to say that you have an amazing treasure in that beautiful quilt.
don't know the name, but I would draw it up on a grid and make my own pattern calling it "monster mouth" - it makes me think of a mouth full of teeth, might make a cute Halloween stlye wall hanging or lap quilt. Maybe red, white for the mouth part and blacks and theme fabric for the HST. sharet
No idea, but what a lovely treasure you have there.
I agree; it is a variation of the Kansas Troubles. I checked a 1980 edition of The Collector's Dictionary of Quilt Names & patterns, thinking surely an old pattern would be listed there. KT was the only one even close. You have a real treasure.
Looks like Delectable Mountains with the longest strips set backwards from DM. What a lovely heirloom!

I am no expert, but in looking at the dark and not the light, it looks like a building- silo perhaps? or capitaol building? Could be her original block. It is beautiful!:)
Wonderful, wonderful quilt. I think that it is a version of Delectable Mountains.
