Does anyone own the Brother CS6000i machine?

For a long time, I've been toying with the idea of purchasing this as my "take to class" machine. It has very good reviews for all the features at a great price. I received two Amazon gift cards last year that total enough to purchase this machine. It is older but would any of you still recommend it? The newer model does not include a walking foot, has some negative reviews for too light weight (machine moves when sewing), and a bit more expensive.

I did a quick search (I put cs6000i in the search box on the upper right) - it came back with 37 pages of topics that mention that machine so there's lots of info on the forum :)

I love mine (I either got it from Ebay or Shopgoodwill cheap because it had an error code they couldn't figure out... the most common error code is E1 if you try to sew with the presser foot up... easy fix! put the foot down) I take mine to retreat, and it doesn't move around when I sew. I am a very happy camper!

I have the Brother XM2701 which I bought to take on a trip to TN last Fall. I love it. I've used it to piece, quilt (free motion and walking foot), and just do general sewing on. The Brother CS6000i looks great too. I love how lightweight my model is. It makes traveling with it easy. I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere. It looks like the CS6000i is light as well--just 3 lbs more than mine. I think it would be an excellent purchase; especially if you like to use the decorative stitches :)

I have a brother sq9060 from Walmart with same features and I love it for classes and travel. I wouldn't hesitate on the 6000 it has been around forever for a reason

I have had the cs6000i for several years and take it to several retreats each year. Several ladies have purchased this machine after having seen how mine just hums along. I have never taken it for maintenance and it is so easy to take apart and clean. I thought maybe it was going to start giving me problems so I looked at the next one up from this but didn't purchase. Found out I was using a wrong bobbin in it. lol I also have a Janomi mechanical and a bigger Brother I purchased because of how well the cs6000i worked but I hardly use it. I just like the little one so much.

I have this machine as my take to sewing group machine and I love it. Last month we did microwave bowl cozies as our project and my machine sewed right through all those thicknesses with no problem at all. I highly recommend this machine.

Several in my sewing group have this machine. I've never heard anyone complain about it.
