It is the motion illusion created by the bandanas that cause the feeling of dizziness. Personally I love the quilt.

I really like it; I love bandana prints! What is the pattern name?
It's a puzzle quilt, as as far as I know, my sister designed it. I got the pattern when I took her workshop on making it. I have the pattern on my computer. PM me if you'd like me to send you a copy....I would need your email address, but only in a PM please. Don't put it here for the world to see!

Your post makes me wonder whether you have color 'challenges' like I do. Like you, too many different fabrics in a quilt is un-enjoyable for me. But I am 'profoundly' color blind, and some of the colors in the fabrics just fade away while I'm trying to piece the quilt with it. Most of the quilts I make use 2 - 5 fabric quilts, which seems to be where my niche.
I am not color blind, but I do have major problems combining colors. I am happiest with two or three fabric quilts, or at least two or three colors. For me, I just like them better. I can at least visualize them, sort of, in the design wall in my head. :) My very favorites are shades of purple. Like this one.
