Lucky ladies to have supportive husbands! Mine is very supportive but is starting to complain about my fabric buying as my stash is larger than I really need right now. To those collectors of machines: where do you keep them all???? I just do not have the room to display them. I have an old Singer on display and just have no space to keep any more old timers. I love them, but will just have to dream on and enjoy your comments on the ones you do have.

My husband doesn't care either way about my sewing or quilting. He likes the end results though and is impressed.
He does support my crocheting since it is really starting to take off for me. My site is doing better than ever so I'm really starting to do push myself with pattern creation. He is my web site builder so he is very involved with it there. He looks insulted when I tell him that I don't care what the tables look like on the database. It is him who has to look at it all lol. He also starts talking a lot of jargon that is unknown to me... hmmm... maybe I should start that with my crocheting and start talking stitches and whatnot lol.... It works though, at least for now. We've been together for 11 years so I guess I'm stuck with him lol. He doesn't have any other hobbies so the web building is his only thing.... |
I'm loving this thread!! Hobbies keep us happy and the support of our spouses makes it that much nicer! I mentioned my 3 sons also supported my addiction- a couple of weeks ago my son was at a meeting in DC where he lives and works. He called to tell me about a beautiful wallhanging he saw in the building. Things like that make me smile!!! :)

Now that I've got my DH into quilting, I can't get him out of here!!! Sometimes its nice but my computer is in here too and his machine is a little distracting. However having your DH into quilting has its perks too. I may get that longarm all because I can't handquilt his and mine!!

I guess they are few and far between in reality.LOL I have been single now since 1990 and am very happy. I was married to one that I couldn't do anything right. Until we had been divorced for a year or so and his new young wife wasn't working out the way HE wanted and he said he realized what a "good little wife" I had been. SAY WHAT!! I told him exactly what he could do with that. LOL My DD doesn't really care about my quilting but I do find when I am stuck Her "untrained" eye sometimes sees things mine doesn't Congrats to all the women here who found good ones. They are rare. |

We went to JoAnn's to buy a new iron (was really disappointed that I could not use my 40% off coupon), I was going to buy the $70 Rowenta, but my dear husband pointed out all the great features of the $120 Oliso Smart Iron....ok, he talked me into it....He has always been very supportive, never complains when I drag him to buy fabric.....

My DH is also a keeper, he doesn't mind anything that I buy, he encourages me to buy more. He will tell me not to worry about the housework, just go play in the sewing room. He built a small house just outside the deck for his collection of guns & knives, and just before he finished he said he thought I should take it for my sewing area. Then surprised me with a Viking mega quilter and frame. I think I'll keep him, we've been married 41 yrs this 8/24.

My sewing room is a man free zone. My husband will go in Joann's with me and he does hem and haw about it. He loves the quilts that I make and he is very helpful with color selection, sometimes he flat out hates something and doesn't hesitate to tell me. He never complains about the money I spend (if he only new how much). I will sit with him when I hand sew the bindings and then he decides who should get the quilt if it's not a gift. I am very lucky to have him. The only thing is that he feels I should quilt everything myself,if not then it isn't mine. So I have one queen size in the clost hanging. With football season here and I can honestly say I am a football widow until seasons over. That's when I do my best work...
