My husband and I have our own "rooms" in a portion of our basement right next to each other. (an open area, but we have our boundaries---------his & hers) Quilting & clock repair. We both have storage for our stuff, & I have a long arm quilting machine! It took some planning, but it works fine for us.

when my son moved out a few months ago, I quickly took over his bedroom for my sewing room. I have that set up strictly as a "sewing area" - where I work on the actual project. But, we also had another bedroom not being used so I set that one up with my fabric and cutting area. I was able to keep a twin bed in there for when my son comes home for a visit. But, I, too, have noticed I'm slowly overtaking the dining area (no table in there so it's empty too). I think we just tend to take over as our projects expand. :-)

Me too. I have my large cutting table in the room with my fabric for the initial cutting stage then I have another cutting station set up next to my machine when I need to do additional cutting. With my bad back, this works for me. Plus, I have a bar stool at my large cutting table to sit down when I need to.

I have a small room upstairs to sew. But I get lonely up there sometimes. So....I bring my machine downstairs and sit here and sew...then when hubby realizes that I am sewing down here...he says 'YOU GOT A SEWING ROOM UPSTAIRS FOR THAT" AND I say...yes honey, I know, I just don't want you to feel lonely down here all by yourself. Works every time.

I got a suggestion. Once we all run out of space for our fabric...we can always build our houses UPWARDS with another floor. ONLY FOR SEWING. Nothing else. Well maybe a bathroom. :)

We have a small house (even by UK standards) but my lovely DH has encouraged me to 'nick' the study. I don't think I'd have the nerve to use any other rooms. Get sewing and use up some of that stash.
