You won't believe this --- started a quilt yesterday, cut out the cream fabric according to directions. I ALWAYS set the finished cut pieces to my left. Started sewing and discovered I need some 2" cream colored blocks...hmmmmmmm okay - I screwed up --- OH LOOK, there's some extra cream on the right!!! SCRAPS! YAY. Cut them, made the 4 blocks with 16 2" blocks. now I need to sew the cream around the blocks...OH NO!!!! I needed 8 5 1/8" blocks......I CUT the wrong fabric!!! So, I went 60 mile round trip to go to town and get some more cream fabric ------BUT wait!!! Joann's is having a sale!!! $50.00 later (for that 3/4 yard).......I come home and start sewing. hmmmmm what's this on the right side of my sewing machine????? OH 8 5 1/8" blocks ----------I HAD cut them!!! I didn't need to go to town!!!!!! ROLMAO!!!! Yip - I'm losing it! And no - my sewing room is NOT messy!!!! I'm just losing my MIND!!!

Just a little senior moment - I get them all the time.

MZStitch 11-07-2010 02:41 PM

So nice to hear others make the same kind of mistakes I do! Don't worry, your secret is safe with us, afterall you could rat us out to our husbands as well!

Born2Sew 11-07-2010 02:42 PM

What? Other people do that kind of stuff 2?? Well, I'll be.

maryb119 11-07-2010 02:52 PM

It's so nice to know that I am not the only one who does things like that. Welcome to the club.

Dina 11-07-2010 03:01 PM

I am not telling anyone, but it SURE is good to hear that I am not the only one who does stuff like this. I feel much better!! Thanks!

KarenR 11-07-2010 03:01 PM

I'm glad you got the brake from sewing, to go and do more shopping. The two seem to go together.

quiltluvr 11-07-2010 03:09 PM

Money and time well spent the way I see it.

LeeAnn 11-07-2010 03:11 PM

Think of the extra goodies you got. We won't talk about your mind. lol. I'm just happy it wasn't me this time.

klgreene 11-07-2010 03:15 PM

I do that all the time, but I can't get to town by myself, so I order on the internet, and just pray that it comes in on a day DH is working. He works a weird shift, so I try to order from the places I know get it to me in x amount of days. They just don't understand. LOL

bels 11-07-2010 03:18 PM

Losing you mind!? No you're NOT! YA, Ha ,HA!

brookemarie19 11-07-2010 03:23 PM

It was just Joanne's callin your name because there was a sale and you know you needed more stuff for your stash

Scissor Queen 11-07-2010 03:24 PM

To prevent myself from doing this sort of thing I get a sticky note pad and as I cut each size I label it.

2pedersens 11-07-2010 03:26 PM

Too funny!! Thanks for the good laugh. I'm laughing because I am so happy I am not only one that does stuff like that.

dunster 11-07-2010 03:37 PM

This post made my day. Thanks for the laugh.

amandasgramma 11-07-2010 03:39 PM

I forgot to mention --- I did!!! I'd just stuck it to the wrong side -- and WAY over near the sewing machine!!!

featherweight 11-07-2010 03:40 PM

DebinNY 11-07-2010 03:40 PM

Been there, done that! :-D (more than once)

PurplePassion 11-07-2010 03:53 PM

You probably needed some fresh air.

Jingle 11-07-2010 03:54 PM

Oh well, stuff happens. You will use the new fabric sooner or later.

MissM 11-07-2010 04:35 PM

All is well, that ends well, is all that I have to say. :D

carolaug 11-07-2010 04:37 PM

same here...I spent so much money this week...quilt shop, Go, Fabric, more fabric, quilt show more fabric, three dies, cat quilt pattern...I just washed two load many more to go...ironing it...my husband just started noticing how much I bought since there is a ton of fabric to be ironed on the table...I think I may have over done it....

sahm4605 11-07-2010 04:38 PM

think of it as oooopppps fabric for when a block doesn't look right. you should always have extra fabric for that. and you had just forgotten to pick it up when you first made the purchase.

Quiltforme 11-07-2010 05:30 PM

IT's that extra hour that is messing with us!!

fireworkslover 11-07-2010 05:32 PM

To prevent this from happening again in the future, perhaps you want to make a list of what's to be cut and check off when you do. List's seem to help me.

katybob 11-07-2010 05:33 PM

I have a friend who calls senior moments "some-timers"

cdufur 11-07-2010 05:46 PM

But you got to go to a Joann's sale! LOL
