Have any of you ever bought fabric on Ebay. I have bought three things within the last week and so far they are great. I actually got them very quickly and the price was so good. One even had free shipping!

sueisallaboutquilts 03-11-2011 10:34 AM

Ebay has some wonderful fabric sellers.
I buy from several all the time. Great prices, low ship!

jljack 03-11-2011 10:36 AM

You do have to be careful who you buy from on eBay, and be sure that the fabric you are buying is good quality. When I started quilting I bought just any old fabric that said "cotton" and got some junk. I learned. Be sure it says the manufacturer and you are familiar with their fabric. You really can get some good deals, but always check the feedback indicator for the seller BEFORE you buy!!

RUSewing 03-11-2011 10:38 AM

I've bought quite a bit on Ebay and have had good luck. That includes machine feet, bobbins, thread and fabric. Only was disappointed once and that was on Teaching Piano books!

Maureen 03-11-2011 10:50 AM

I haven't found the thread section yet, but there is 303 pages of Moda Fabric and thats my favorite!

irishrose 03-11-2011 10:54 AM

It's a 'learn as you go' experience. I've purchased some great fabrics at good prices with good customer service. I also purchased some not so good fabric (some poly) before I learned to read more carefully. All 'charms' are not Moda, RJR, etc and all 'quilting' fabric is not quality. If I wanted more, ebay would be a possibility now that I know what to look for.

SherriB 03-11-2011 11:04 AM

I have been very lucky on Ebay also. I have gotten some gorgeous fabrics at great prices. Like the others have said, pay attention to feedback--read it also. And know who makes the fabric you are buying.

quiltmaker 03-11-2011 11:14 AM

If you use the search feature or just browse through the subjects in Main you will see this discussed numerous times here. One I believe in the last week.

That said, there are fabulous Ebay sellers with wonderful fabrics. You just have to check to see if they are top rated sellers, check their feedback, shipping, etc., know your fabric prices for specific manufacturers and have fun shopping. You can find really great deals.

SuziC 03-11-2011 11:37 AM

I have had very good luck with sellers on ebay so far

pab58 03-11-2011 11:42 AM

I buy from ebay more than anywhere else.

ccb2200 03-11-2011 01:27 PM

I have bought fabric on Ebay several times and have not had a problem.

sharoney 03-11-2011 01:28 PM

I buy from ebay often- I just look for brand names.

TexasGurl 03-11-2011 01:34 PM

I've had good experiences buying from popular sellers on ebay. Just make sure you see the manuf. or line of fabrics and don't buy odd lots ...

katiescraftshop 03-11-2011 01:39 PM

I just started in January and love what I've gotten.

debp33 03-11-2011 05:14 PM

I've had mixed results.

If you're buying scraps or remnants - I have learned that seller's ideas are different about what "large" remnants or scraps are. I've had some that have truly been large, and others that have been strange sized cuts too small to do anything with.

Suzi 03-12-2011 05:02 AM

I have shopped eBay since I started this wonderful quilting hobby - and yes, I have been disappointed once or twice (after all, you just can't pet the fabric) but as a whole, 90% of my fabric has come from eBay venders.

Krystyna 03-12-2011 05:21 AM

I make lots of Christian themed prayer quilts for charity, so I'm always crusing around eBay to find fabric with religious themes. There are a couple of OOPs that I'm always searching for and when I find them, I buy it all. Overall, very happy with eBay fabric.

quiltingnonie 03-12-2011 06:55 AM

Many good transactions on eBay for me. I have one seller that I like so much, I even go to her eBay Store and buy directly - without having to bid - and still get great fabric and fabulous customer service. :)

starlight 03-12-2011 07:41 AM

I have bought fabric and had good luck with that but I also bought precut squares that were supposed to be the same size. They were four different sizes. I will not get precut anymore.

grandma anna 03-12-2011 07:51 AM

I bought nine pieces last month I save the sellers and go back to the same ones a lot but I do like to browse.

LilQuilt 03-12-2011 10:31 AM

I have bought fabric from ebay. Just make sure to read description and look for brand of fabric and make sure you understand if price is by half-yard or a yard. So far I have not had a problem with any fabric I have bought.

Flying_V_Goddess 03-12-2011 10:44 AM

Bought some Moda marble fat quarters. They look great and they shipped out real fast.

bbmom1989 03-12-2011 10:51 AM

I have purchased off ebay and have gotten really nice fabrics. I do look for dealers when I buy and haven't purchased a great deal from individuals. So far I have been very pleased.
Jana

bbmom1989 03-12-2011 10:52 AM

Who is the dealer that you go back to?
Jana

dunster 03-12-2011 10:54 AM

I've purchased many times from crowsnestquiltingfabrics on ebay and have always been extremely pleased.

bbmom1989 03-12-2011 11:01 AM

Thank you, I will look them up

Jana

joyce blint 03-12-2011 11:25 AM

Ebay's always a good (expensive, sometimes) experience for me. Have gotten some really nice fabric.

luvstoquilt 03-12-2011 12:30 PM

Yes I do! Great buys and can find some that do not chg to ship!

dreamer2009 03-12-2011 12:34 PM

my only complaint is be sure to ask if from a smoker's home if you are allergic :)
I have loved all the fabric I have gotten off Ebay.

quiltingnonie 03-12-2011 12:49 PM

Two of my favorite eBay Stores are:

'Quilt Unique Fabrics & Gifts' - GREAT 108" backing fabric, superb customer service

'philly fabrics' - GREAT batiks for $4 yd, very fast service

sueisallaboutquilts 03-12-2011 01:01 PM

I can't say enough about this place:

http://stores.ebay.com/Mo-and-Macs-F...id=p4340.l2563

They are FABULOUS to do biz with!!!

honeybee_2000 03-12-2011 01:47 PM

me too..:) I have at least 5 sellers I buy from both for patterns and fabrics. Sure is cheaper than gas to drive to some quilt shops in my area..lol

cavmom 03-12-2011 01:49 PM

i just purchased 100 5" charms squares at a great price. I am hoping i will like the quality as it is a mix of fabrics the woman has picked up over the years. I have bought other things from ebay with pretty good luck.

honeybee_2000 03-12-2011 02:12 PM

sure is easier to pay someone else to cut my squares for me, since I have to do it by hand or rotary cutter. I know they are more exact than what I can do if they are done on proper cutter. Ive bought several charm squares this way.

redturtle 03-12-2011 02:15 PM

maybe if you girls remember from whom you purchased and were exceptionally happy with...
you can tell us so we can just look them up and see what they got

sewbizgirl 03-12-2011 04:45 PM

Some people who do not sew themselves will call any fabric "cotton", just as many non-knitters call all yarn "wool"... Buyer needs to ask a lot of questions.

Can you give her shop name?

harrishs 03-12-2011 05:19 PM

I have bought many times-----the only problem I have ever had was one pack of precut squares were really smokey smelling----now I make sure it says smoke free home.
