EB is the bomb! I love that woman and repsect her for who she is. I have watched her show from the time she was in the attic. She has taught me just about everything I know about quilting. She is brilliant! Every once in a while when my husband is watching I just have to throw the scraps over my shoulder. He knows exactly what I am doing and smiles as he has seen her show while I've watched. I hope to meet her in person someday as she seems so sweet and down to earth. AND WHAT IS ALL THIS CRAP ABOUT THE VOICE GOD GAVE HER! Must we all be so perfect?

I have met El in Nashville & 3 yrs in a row at the Houston Show. She is the same every day and is just like she is in her SHows & videos. At the Shows she acts like she has all day to stand and chat while the line grows and grows with people wanting her to sign this or to just talk with her. Amazes me! And she never stops smiling because she is as excited to be amongst all of thoe quilters as we are. I do not know how he does it.

I've been watching a "Quilt In A Day" series on RFD TV (channel 231) on Dish TV. Eleanor does a great job teaching quick techniques for piecing!

Eleanor Burns has always been my fav; however, thought her Trip Around the World was too complicated. After making several laps a friend suggested just making them in quarters and joining them using Eleanors method. Piece of cake!

EB reminds me of my first grade teacher. I have a couple of her books but more for pattern than instruction. I do not agree with many of her methods because I feel that they are very wasteful which is in conflict with the concept of using up or reusing fabrics. What I see in her programs is very basic and for some a good place to start learning about quilts.

I personally don't see any waste in her " method"...... She originally was a school teacher I understand, and that is indeed reflected in her method. I have all of her books, and a few DVDs and actually two video tapes....should have those made into CDs ...and have never had a problem following her instructions....she breaks down patterns into a doable, understandable technique. PS..after I wrote this I realized the original post is quite old....but anyway. VIVA EB!!!!!!

I met her at a show in Knoxville, she is lovely. I modified her summer porch quilt, enlarged it and like her methods for accurate piecing.

I've taken two classes from Eleanor and had lunch and dinner with her several times at Quilts Around Chautauqua. She is just like you see her on TV. It's like having your best friend over for coffee. She can talk to you about anything. We discussed kids, grandkids, ex-husbands, quilting, you name it. I have met several top names at Chautauqua, and she is the friendliest, most down to earth of all I've met. Wonderful sense of humor!

Eleanor Burns is an inspiration to women in her own right. Abandoned by her husband and left to raise two small boys on her own, she is an American success story featuring hard work, perseverance, and creativity. I admire her so much for pulling herself out of a bad situation by building her business, Quilt in a Day. The bonus is that we all reap the benefits of her contributions to the quilting community.
