If you are seeing thread on top, it is definitely a tension problem. If you have already embroidered the piece you can use a trick I learned to cover it up. Use permanent markers and color over the spot. If you are just practicing, ajust the tension. I use prewound bobbins all the time which are lighter then embroidery thread. If the thread shows, I need to adjust the tension is too tight.

You might want to see if you can find a heavier thread to use in the bobbin.

Thread tension problems are frustrating aren't they?

Yes and this is exactly why I don't play w/ my machines to their full capibilities. Good luck.

Thats a great suggestion-thank-you!

I really wouldn't use the clear thread in the bobbin for embroidery. For one, to wind a bobbin with it, you have to go really slow or the thread will stretch. I did wind one once and I couldn't get the plastic bobbin off the winder pin. I had to break it off.
I use Bottom Line in the bobbin when doing embroidery work. It is made for things like this. I match the thread color as close as I can with the top color. No problems with the bobbin showing through. Botton Line is a 60wt thread and very nice to work with. I have used it also for piecing and quilting a large quilt with.

This happened to me in a class recently. My bobbin spool was not properly threaded through.

Happens to me sometimes. Then I clean out all the lint from the bobbin case (take it apart). Sometimes the tiniest bit of lint is the reason for the problem. I have the 6 needle machine and it has the bobbin case you can remove with a latch. I use a business card and go through the slit and boy sometimes stuff comes out that you can't even see.
Hope that helps.

You definitely have a tension issue. The tension is too tight. I use prewound bobbins and embroidery thread all the time and they are different weight threads. If the bottom thread shows, loosen the tension. If you have already embroidered your fabric and see the bottom thread you can use this trick. Use a permanent magic marker and color the bottom thread to match the top.

Try using bobbin thread it is much thinner and should give you better results.
