Sorry, this may be a dumb question. I'm picturing an all white block quilt, maybe different color sashing and each block being embroidered and quilted around the perimeter of the quilt.
Would this work? I know technically it would, but do people actually use embroidery as the quilting? |
There are many embroidery designs made just for this purpose :D:D:D

hmmmm Apparently I need to buy an embroidery machine. So, you can embroid thru three layers, right?
|
Yes you can embroider thru the quilt sandwich with an embroidery machine. I do it all the time on my Janome 300E. I use a sticky back stabilizer in the hoop and then stick my quilt piece over that to quilt.

Wow. This sounds perfect! Thank you. I'd love to see a quilt done if anyone has pics they'd share.

I do this all the time. Here's one I did on my Bernina 830 using an embroidery design. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-83293-1.htm

Yep, it would wok, I do it all the time!! I do it just to the quilt top prior to being quilted together.

So... no basting?? Sweet!
Thank you for that picture, Candace. |
