So what do you do with an old used cutting mat? |
I asked why my cutting board didn`t last as long as it should have, and the store owner told me,it could be that I don`t hold my cutter perfectly straight up & down. I knew that was it. Bought a new board (sticker shock there) and will be more careful from now on.

turn the mat over and use the other side!! you paid for both sides. I just found a large (as my finger tip) hunk missisng from mine. I think from cutting in the same area too much. so, I turned it over. I dont use the lines that much anyway. I will be looking out for a Joanns sale to replace it with also. In the mean time I can still use the backside.

I have an older white cutting mat which was sold as 'pinable'. I also have a mat 'smoother' which I use regularly especially when I am working with fleece as you can see the fleece sticking in the cut line. So far (20yrs) my blades last very well.
