Fabric collections

I am always looking for fabric with rabbits on it. Yardage or FQ, sometimes precut squares on eBay. Is there any special fabric you look for?

auntpiggylpn 08-15-2012 06:25 PM

I always look for more modern prints and colors. I love pigs so I am always on the look out for pig fabrics as I want to make myself a rag quilt using it.

Cybrarian 08-15-2012 06:27 PM

Asian fabrics call my name as soon as I enter any shop. I always gravitate to purples and greens also solids, prints, batiks - whatever. Don't get me started on Christmas fabrics...

I wish I only had one to look for!!! I am addicted. My number one is Frogs. Then Dragonflies, Coffee Prints, Ovarian Cancer (by Blank Fabrics), School Related, Brights, Large Florals, Trains ......and on and on and on!

DebbE 08-15-2012 07:39 PM

Just about anything that is tree related, autumn colors and not too flowery. I have fabrics from the 50's to current -- and I literally have many hundreds of yards of fabric. Its ridiculous, really -- but that's what I collect.

Nanamoms 08-15-2012 08:10 PM

Asian, Patriotic, butterflies and anything RED!! Not to mention Princess designs for my DGD!!

linda8450 08-15-2012 09:19 PM

I visited in Oregon about 2 yrs ago when I was just starting to collect. Every shop I entered I asked for directions toward any fabric with "sewing theme", needles, thread, sewing machines, etc. and undies, red hat fabric, batiks (oh all of them~~!!) some leaf prints, then anything fall colors, oh I had to send a box home to AL. Shipping was $40..so I bought a lot~! I have sort of refind my looking now, but still go for red hat and sewing things, batiks, and undies, guess I didn't narrow it down at all~!

sewbeadit 08-16-2012 01:20 AM

luvstoquilt 08-16-2012 05:28 AM

I love 1930s, old feed sacks, apples, anything green...oh my goodess...if it is cotton I just love it!

jcrow 08-16-2012 05:53 AM

I love bright and cheerful. Red is my number one pick if I like it. I have a huge box of Asian prints and I don't know why I bought them. I don't care for them yet. Give me time. I'm starting to like Batiks. A month ago I had nothing to do with batiks. Now I love them. Crazy! I don't care for 30s print. I did for a long time and now I'm over it. But I'll get it back, I'm sure. I like the wild fabric. I don't like fabric that has "items" on them. No animals, cars, trees, food, etc. Not yet, anyway. Every time I say I don't like something, next thing I know, I like it. So, I have to say I don't like it right this minute. But I'm not crazy about Halloween print at all and am not sure if I ever will be. Too much black. I like black but not mixed with the oranges for some reason. I love, love, love Civil war fabric. My all time favorite. Okay, enough out of me.

mike'sgirl 08-16-2012 06:40 AM

Roses, sweet florals that look shabby chic, 30s and feed sack, and I am starting to like some of the more modern stuff. I love the Modern Vintage line that Moda has out, and the California Girl line. But I almost always love anything that Moda puts out.

sandy l 08-16-2012 08:01 AM

Leaves in any color and shape (as long as it "sorta" reseambles a leaf), and cats.

msariano 08-16-2012 08:35 AM

I can't resist fabrics with butterflies and fabrics with gold threads in them--so luscious, I have to have them.!

nhweaver 08-16-2012 08:42 AM

My fabric addiction changes from whim to whim. Last year it was historical civil war fabrics, this year I am in love with William Morris style fabrics. Moda has a new Brackman line coming out in the early fall. I still do not like pale blues and red reds though, that has not changed.

charity-crafter 08-16-2012 09:31 AM

Anything with a science theme-chemistry, physics.

gollytwo 08-16-2012 09:34 AM

Novelties, especially food and wine.

Valerie Ann 08-16-2012 10:37 AM

Cats for daughter #1
Muted brown prints for daughter #2
Brights for husband
Anything with gold thread for me

Skyangel 08-16-2012 10:39 AM

Airplanes
dogs (cockers or greyhounds)
coffee
hydrangeas (blue)
batiks in blue/green colors

Deborahlees 08-16-2012 11:24 AM

Because I live in wine country and love the stuff, and have grape vines in my backyard....I love looking for anything grape - wine related......from grapes, wine bottles, wine kegs, wine corks......whatever.

gigi712 08-16-2012 11:58 AM

BLUES !!!! Has to be blue without any green. Hate green anything. Think of the 70's when everything was avocado green and harvest gold. *shudder*. Also like dragonflies. I have a tub full of dragonfly daze fabric that I'm itching to get my hands on right now.

barking-rabbit 08-16-2012 08:26 PM

I went into the sewing machine store fir needles, stopped to look at a machine and the fabric had rabbits on it. I asked and was given several squares.

hensandhollyhocks 08-16-2012 09:18 PM

And I thought I was the only one who liked rabbit fabric. I try not to go for the Easter prints, but rabbits in general. I also have a soft spot for roses, but don't find many of those that I care for.

cathylynn 08-16-2012 10:10 PM

cats, cats, and more cats! and yellow/white or yellow/blue prints.

QuiltingCrazie 08-16-2012 10:30 PM

I think were all addicted lol mine depends on the project. Im doing a black, blue and grey ricky tims quilt for my son, a New Mexico quilt so I have been on the lookout for southwest (where I'm from), I'm doing several fall themed quilts so I'm always on the lookout for fall colors cotton and batiks. Marbled solids is my number one of what I'm trying to collect, never have enough!! Thanks for the thread it's been fun to read!

Merivale 08-16-2012 11:37 PM

All of them for me. My GFs in my quilting group have favorites that we each look out for. Sandals, cooking tools, frogs, dog kennels, Christmas stockings and tractors. A fat quarter here and there brings a great big hug - well worth it.

mcdaniel023 08-17-2012 01:18 AM

Well let's see: Florals, greens, 30's, Kaufman fusions and batiks are what I am drawn to at the moment.

cindyscoralreef 08-17-2012 03:20 AM

Fabrics with tropical fish. Those with dachshunds also draw my eye, if not my pocketbook.

Sewflower 08-17-2012 03:30 AM

Teapots and cups
Woodland and outdoor theme for my husband's quilt I have promised him for 10 years. The reason I use for going shopping at different shops in search of the perfect fabric (which is never there). Lol

kimbrennan 08-17-2012 03:35 AM

FLAMINGOS!!! lol...and they must be very popular, because it is extremely hard to find fabric with them on...My family will buy anything (within reason) with flamingos on it. Trying to start a quilt with flamingo "I spy" but need to find a few more....gives me something to do in my spare time....yea right....

coopah 08-17-2012 04:22 AM

Cats. Anything with cats...fabric, patterns...if there's a cat on it, i"ll probably buy it.

Chay 08-17-2012 04:52 AM

Good question, it's fascinating to see what people look for. I'm obsessed with dots and birds. From reading blogs I see that fabric with words on it is hot right now but I haven't dipped my toe into that pool yet.

Normabeth 08-17-2012 04:58 AM

I look for pink elephants to make my grand niece quilts

Quiltlady330 08-17-2012 05:29 AM

Just for fun (and my youngest granddaughter) I always look for cute ladybug fabric.

ShirlinAZ 08-17-2012 05:53 AM

Lighthouses, and anything related to the ocean. Can't get enough of them in Arizona.

rush88888 08-17-2012 06:28 AM

every place i go, i look for black and white and white and black...no shades of grey or any fabric that comes off as grey. i haven't duplicated anything even though my collection is very large. i think it is time to use them! maybe another arrow quilt - now that i have learned the mistakes that can occur!

jj1150 08-17-2012 06:32 AM

Batiks... Find myself so drawn to them. And buying a little here and a little there :)
also Kaffee Fasset prints ( so gorgeous )

Jody

AllAboutScraps 08-17-2012 06:41 AM

I'm always attracted to purples, blues and greens...Love fabrics with Hydrangeas, and I am looking for a polarfleece fabric with a foxhunting theme to make a present for a friend. Can't find something like that anywhere.

Stitchit123 08-17-2012 07:19 AM
