Sorry, count me out on this one.

I am in , I may falter, but I am in! This moratorium is a must for a lot of us the way the economy is and our ages on fixed income. The LQS will not miss me, neither will jo anns. With our stashes we will survive and accomplish so many of our WIPs. We can use up holiday fabric all year for gifts next year.
This will be a challenge. I am going to make a sign for my closet
that says. " I am closed for all new fabric" and on the other side will say "Open for browsing, feeling, choosing, and it is all for FREE. enjoy, take your time be happy.

What I'm thinking about is this...

* no fabric purchases to start a new quilt top
* from now until 1 November 2011

What you can buy is this - items to finish an existing quilt project (either WIP or UFO):

* batting
* backing or binding fabric
* fabric (if nothing in your stash will work)
* thread or notions

Anyone else interested in joining me?

YES please :), count me in. Although I don't have a huge stash at all, I have the feeling of having enough. There's at least enough fabric for 5 or 6 quilts, so I'd like to join you for 6 months. Maybe I can make it until November, we'll see?

Thank you for the challenge!

I did this for 2010. I definitely cut down on what I was buying (being unemployed and then under employed from June 2009 - July 2010 helped) but I couldn't give it up all together. But I did very well :D

I think you have a good idea. If our grandmothers/great grandmothers could see how much most of us have now they would probably wonder if they were in a store. To think they used anything they could get their hands on like flour and feed sacks and now......all I can say is we are blessed!

So if we fall off the wagon, there will be help for us? :lol:

Digging thru stash before going to work. Need to find backing for quilt that needs to be done by 12/20. Top is done just found a home for it so need to get going.
