I did it for a year,and really I think I can join the few braves for another year. What I enjoyed the most, is that it forced me to be creative.

Count me in. I'm relatively new to quilting. (3 years) and don't have much of a stash. My LQS has 40% off for 2 weeks during February so I'll probably buy some then, but may limit my self to backings. If I sew up what I have than I'll allow my self to buy earlier.

Thanks for the challenge.

Not a chance! LOL. But you knock yourself out. I'll think of you when I'm at the Paducah show. Too funny. I can't even diet, can't imagine no fabric. :)

What I'm thinking about is this...

* no fabric purchases to start a new quilt top
* from now until 1 November 2011

What you can buy is this - items to finish an existing quilt project (either WIP or UFO):

* batting
* backing or binding fabric
* fabric (if nothing in your stash will work)
* thread or notions

Anyone else interested in joining me?

Can I join in January? I have to purchase fabric for mother's quilt/throw and DGS has given instructions as well as fabric choice for his next "lucky blanket" both have birthdays in January and I don't have the fabrics needed for these projects

I had decided that I would only use actually money for purchases and not my credit cards(and theyare empty) but if I dont have the cash NO BUY, but I couldn't do yours. - J

I could probably try this. If nothing else to see how long I can hold out. I'm making a quilt now that I may have to buy more blues, does that count against me?

Yes indeed,I have been suffering from quilters block for a time now and as we live in a very small house didn't want to buy more fabric to get me going again. I looked through my stash and found lots of striped shirting fabric I bought some years ago,very cheaply, and set myself a challenge to produce a quilt. I have completed the top and now just have to layer and quilt. My group say it's good so will wait and see.It is based on the nine patch and beyond.I will try and post a photo' when I can. Blessings to all,Letty

Boy, am I in. I have fabric stashed all over the house. Sometimes, I feel so stressed. If I could just work on the KITS that I have. That could easily last a year or more.

KiwiQuilter I think all you will have to do is post a new topic on the 1st of every month. Just make sure everyone knows the name of the topic.

Mirabelle - great idea.

I was thinking about this over the last few hours and I came to a very similar conclusion. So... the 1st of January I'll pop up a post. We can discuss our progress, motivate each other, talk about our oopsies, and show photos of what progress we have made.

What does everyone think? Sound like it will work?
