Gosh, it's gotten so bad I don't try to figure what I'm spending on a quilt, like not counting the hours you put in making the quilt
|
It depends. I bought a beautiful $13 yrd fabric, but got it for half price.
|
Here in SA we pay R120 (and more) per meter .....
So if you put it like this::: 1 Bread = R9.00 2 liter Milk = R24.00 Then 1 meter of fabric will pay for 4 days' bread & milk!!! |
I buy most of mine from America. Even with postage it's still about 1/3 of the cost the LQS charge here. Have found quilt shops closing down when we've been traveling at times and will take the chance to stock up. Have also bagged some good buys on eBay.

10.50 - 15.50 a yard.
|
(feeling like Chicken Little here....) I don't have much of a stash. Really I don't! I just checked, and I don't have much to fall back on.
And sadly, it's true. sigh. And I spent a few days last week shopping the bargain shelves at 2 LQS nearby. And went to Hobby Lobby. And bought a roll of 80/20 Hobbs (got a great price)....... and I just know I need to get some more fabric. I'm serious, I do. |
Oh My, how I wish I was in the US buying fabric! :-(
This morning I bought 2 metres of Moda Bliss from my local quilt store and it was £11.95 p/metre so $39 in total! Unfortunately that's how much we have to pay round here - although it never seems to stop me!!! |
Here in eastern Ok and western Ar about 10.00 per yard.
|
Just went back to the LQS and they have stocked their bargain shelf so tightly that you can hardly get a bolt out. So, I bought more! The discounts were 35% and 40%... my total discounts were $60. I'm happy with that. When the clerk was cutting the fabric she said you are doing the smart thing because all the new fabric that will be coming in... (she shook her head in disbelief).. is going to be much higher.
Melody  |
I am desperately trying to stay out of them
