All the walmarts around me lost their fabrics more than a year ago. It would be nice to see a least one of them have fabric.

not only did my local walmart discontinue fabrics they took away DMC embroidery thread! even hancocks only carries an off brand (usually pre-packaged). now when i want one skein of thread i have to order on line and b/c of postage i go ahead and order more than one.

I don't go to our wal mart anymore since the fabric went out.

ok, at the risk of harvesting enemies, i would like to voice my thoughts. as we all know, walmart has meant the demise of many many locally owned and operated hometown based businesses. we all know it's because walmart buys in bulk and therefore can undercut small business owners. i feel very strongly about this because one of my best friends is losing her quilt shop because of walmart. people, and some understandably so, would / can only pay for fabric of lesser quality to a retailer that can buy and sell it in bigger quantity. i do not argue your economic situation, what i do argue, is what it is costing those whose life, money, and savings is wrapped up in quality, blood, sweat, and tears. it's sad, really. thank you for letting me jump up on my soapbox.

I doubt the your friend's customer base would increase if Walmart didn't sell fabric. The ones that don't buy her fabric now still won't buy it if Walmart stops selling fabric. When Walmart in my town got rid of the fabric dept. A fabric shop opened. It went belly up in two years, people were not buying the $8 -$10 a yard fabric even though this store was the only fabric shop in town and the fabric was excellent quality.

I hear the 3 Wal-Marts around here have full fabric departments, and have added to it instead of taking anything away.

HI, I was at Walmart this week Oct 11, 2010 and the selection was poor. The department manager said that she did not know how long the material would be there and that all there would be was JoAnn's. She was kind enough to cut 10 pieces of fabric for me 1/8 Yard for my watercolor quilt. Then she said you know most places would not do that. The cost for the pieces was $5 and change but really helped my project along.

I am hoping that Walmart does keep their fabric, we all love it.

I hope so! Our walmart was just remodeled and the fabric department is now 1/4 the size it was!

My WalMart has a large fabric dept. Last week i noticed even more fabric than usual and asked the girl at the table what was going on and she told me they are getting more and more new fabric every week! I was overjoyed!!
