Wouldn't that be wonderful! I have to drive 40+ miles to get fabric, my Wal-mart is only 2 miles away.

I, as Gramof6, live close to the wm she mentioned, also El Reno and none have fabric. The one at Chickasha does have fabric and I was there Wednesday and it was so much improved I could not believe it. All 5 of these wm's are within 20 miles of me, so is nice that one has fabric. But up until Wednesday I had not been in a wm in about 6 to 8 weeks as I had no reason. I can purchase all other otc medical supplies and groceries elsewhere and as cheap, but if I needed thread or some sewing supply when I went to a wm with fabric always got other groceries there also, but not anymore. Hopefully they will listen to the customer and change things back. If its not broke, don't fix it.

Here is an excerpt: “Over the last four years, Wal-Mart has gradually removed fabric from its stores, and now operates approximately 1,800 stores with full fabric .... down from approximately 3,300 stores in 2006. Until recently we expected Wal-Mart to remove the full fabric department from approximately 1,000 additional stores….Wal-Mart management is now changing its fabric plans. They cite customer requests for the product and an opportunity to drive incremental traffic. …Finally, Wal-Mart plans to selectively add full fabric back where customers asked for the product. At this stage, no formal rollout plan has been announced.”

Isn’t this wonderful? I know I have missed the fabric department at Wal-Mart!

It would be wonderful to hear back from you if and when you see changes in the wal-mart fabric department. Pictures of the return would be even better and could help move this process along. I also suggest that you voice your opinion to Wal-Mart store managers about the loss of fabric. They seem to be listening again – YEA!

looking forward to hearing from you

Didn't read all the posts before reading this, but my Wal-Mart has fabric now, if you can call it that. It is pre-cut, pre-wrapped and cheap quality. I find it an insult to our (we quilters & sewers) intelligence that they would do this. It is poorly dyed and printed. It just angers me to think Wal-Mart would consider this a wise endeavor. We definitely know where their collective brains are. I'll let you fill in that blank.

One of our closer wm's has both a small amt of fabric plus the fq's. I've bought some of the fq's and they're pretty decent. You have to check them out closely though, I've seen some flaws I'd rather not deal with in a fq. But most are okay.

I work in the fabric dept at WM and they downsized the department (area) and now we too have more fabric than we know where to put. However the fabric is mostly fleece or the fleece blanket kits! The cotton/quilting fabric has not increased - yet. IF it does ----- y'all need to come shop because I have no place to put it. It would be best suited and more loved in your homes. lol

Hurray! It looks like all our emails and complaints were listened to....... I, personally, am looking forward to going back to Wal Mart if they put fabric back in stores.

That would make my day. We have quilt shops around, but Wall mart is closer and better prices! Thanks for the info!
