I've seen pictures on here where people have their fabric on shelves and the fabric is folded around something to where it looks like it's on a bolt, same as at the fabric store. I'm wondering what those things are and where I can find them? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is it a piece of cardboard that the fabric is wrapped around? Would a regular piece of cardboard work? Sorry I can't describe it better....

I just went to the Dollar Store the other day and bought some of what you mean. It's core board I believe, sorry the name escapes me!
The sheets are huge and I cut many sizes from each one.

I cut regular fabric bolts out, and usually get 4 mini-bolts out of each fabric bolt. There is a company out there who sells plastic bolts roughly the same size as the ones I end up with (a little larger than a shoebox lid) and they claim that using fabric bolt cardboard will ruin your fabric over time, but I've never had problems with that, although I've only been storing my fabric like this for about a year or so. However, I love being able to see my fabric, and wouldn't store it any other way. BTW, this company (link: http://polarnotions.com) also sells bolts for fq's, but I find their products are a bit pricey for my taste and wallet.....

Hey, do you think if I made a wallet with reeeeeally deep pockets it would help? I mean, there would be more room for the money that way...

I purchased the silver edition comic book boards (100/$10.00) and folded my fabric around them and placed on a bookshelf.

I had planned on using the boards too,and than I watched a video where the lady folded all her fabric on a 6 by24 inch ruler.
So that is what I did, I folded fabric from 1 yard to 5 yards and it looks nice.

Our local fabric store keeps empty bolts for us, and we use those for larger pieces of fabric - keeps it nice and flat and wrinkle free. We just asked them what they did with the empty bolts, and they said they throw them out! So, now they get recycled!

I did the same thing and then stored them in plastic containers with drawers. You just open the drawer and you can see what you have. My drawers are arranged by the color of the fabric, I have 5 or 6.

I went to Joann Fabrics and they gave me 2 huge carts of empty cardbord boltes. I just cut to the size I needed.
Works wonderful.. and didnt cost a thing.

You have to get these in the afternoon, The ladys working at
Joanns was grateful to give them to me, saved them trips to
the dumpster.
