You are correct. All 9 of my squares are the same size. Four are for the background (gray) and another 4 are folded diagonally (purple) to form the part that folds around the one center square (batik).

This is the ten minute block ,and after the first can be done easily in ten minutes or less. It offers a great range of patterns and layouts it can be finished with centre block hand sewn turn back or machine. I tend to do mine by hand and they then act as a pocket. Very large squares doing this technique and not sewn down make very useable pockets. Sorry no pictures as they are given away before I think.
