I don't have one favorite but especially like Stretched Stars, an Indian Hatchet type of block, great for I Spy children's quilts. Another pattern am fond of is Jack in the Pulpit, many possibilities with this block.

I usually use the D9P pattern if I need to make a quilt in a hurry.

I love both the disappearing 4 patch and disappearing 9 patch. I used to do many yellow brick roads, but the disappearing ones I totally enjoy.

I like Mahjong.

If you have yardage, I like the 5 yard quilt from mill end textiles. You can see lots of examples if you google the image. Here is the free pattern. http://www.millendtextiles.com/attac...yard_quilt.pdf

Seems like the fabrics tell me what to do with them, so I listen and obey. Generally, I don't use patterns, just make the pattern up as I go. They're not too fancy, but most of the time they get nice compliments.
I do like checkerboard quilts when I have two fabrics that work for that design. They can be quite striking, are all strip piecing and go very fast. I usually put a couple of borders on them to set them off. Even so, I've only made about three of them. |
Thanks for all the ideas. Believe it or not I have never made a log cabin quilt and the reason is I have always been afraid of picking out the right colors. Lol
