Fabric.com, Thousands of Bolts, J and O are the ones I've used. If I have to pick a favorite, it would be Fabric.com. I ordered from them on Thursday and my order shipped one hour later. Amazing.

I have just discovered the Missouri Quilt Star store, they have a great daily deal and always $5.00 shipping. I also like the Quilting Cupboard. I have found some more pricey ones that the have good fabric on sale most of the time Shabby quilts? in one I like to browse and bought some of my favorite fabric from there. There is always ebay you can find some great deals there and they have quality fabric, charm packs, etc.

Hancocks of Paducah is *good* but the ship time is LOOOOOONG. Huge selection. Good prices. Sales are great. Their ordering system is not very clear, and the last couple orders I thought I "got" several fabrics, only to find out a week later that "backorder" really means "cancelled". One I found from here was Quilt Fabric Closeouts. Great prices, great quality. The package was packed with such care, it was BEAUTIFUL. Like, they really care about their fabric there. I did the free deal thing from Missouri Star Quilt Co, and I think I'll have to shop them more often. There's something really, really good about these folks. I just can't quite put my finger on it. It's the personable nature that gets me, I think. :D |
My favorite is Over the rainbow too! Like speaking to your friend! Will match something for you and tell you if they can get another yard in for the same shipping. Laura is the best!!!
|
I really like fabric.com and have order from them several time, I have also order from Quilt In a Day and got terrific fabric when it was on sale.
|
Mary Jo's Cloth Shoppe, Cheryl's quilt shop out of Okla. and Honeybee out of Calif.

http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/ Whittles has great prices and the people are nice as can be. But be warned, their shipping department is on vacation until the 12th of this month. They have widewidth Marcus Brothers for $9.50 a yard. I've seen the same elsewhere for $14.50.

Connecting Threads gets a lot of my money..> :)

Just found a great place if you are looking for flannel, it is FlannelWorld.com. They are located in Washington state. Lots of choices and my first order came very quickly and it was just what I had wanted,
|
thanks all for these ideas. so far have only used fabric.com money limited, so always watching for sales.

Sometimes if I over order an item I will list some here in the Buy/Sell/Trade section usually for a little cheaper than the website price. http://www.charmpacksplus.com |
$5bucksayard has some nice fabrics.

I love e.quilter. I am in Australia and if I can't find what I need at the LQS I buy from e.quilter. The choice is wide and turn around fast. Even with postage costs, with the good dollar rate at the moment it is a good deal. I haven't been disappointed yet and if a couple of people order at the same time it makes it cheaper still. I am looking forward to a parcel arriving this week.

I've had bad experience with Fabric.com, but I'm a fan of eQuilter (easy to search) and Fabric Depot and FatQuarterShop.com.
I recently stumbled across The Patchwork Pig which is a shop in the Four Corners area. Turns out they were out of a fabric I ordered but they had one by the same designer/company that was nearly identical...they called me and offered to send it for the same price and take it back if it didn't work as a substitute for what I ordered! Now that's customer service. The fabric was a perfect substitute and I'll order from them again. http://www.patchworkpig.biz/ |
My favorite online quilting fabric 'go-to' to www.equilter.com. They are not inexpensive and they do charge for shipping but they send the fabric you order very quickly and there is online help for related fabrics should you find one that you like. I use no other online shop and I like it that way.

Like many of you I like Connecting Threads. I also am quite pleased with Red Rock Threads
http://www.redrockthreads.com/ One of my favorite places to buy fabrics is Batiks Etcetera and Sew What Fabric, located in Wytheville, Va. They specialize in batiks, but they do have other fabrics. I've been dealing with these people, both in person and online for over 20 years now, and they are both knowledgeable and helpful. Shipment is prompt and prices are fair. http://www.batiks.com/ |
Love fatquartershop.com and it's not just for FQs. It has new fabric lines soon after they are released.
Also have ordered from equilter.com - which send out weekly emails about new fabric and current sales - hav bought lots of panels and baby/toddler fabrics for chsrity quilts here. Also use Hancocks of Paducah. |
I use ebay alot for my fabric needs. Also Quilt in a Day has good prices on some of their fabric. I ordered the Underground Railroad pack and was not disappointed.
|
i love comnnecting threads! great fabric and the kits are fantastic! you don't have to purchase a pattern extra and they give you more than enough fabric so even if you goof up you can still make a lovely item/quilt. I've had enough left over to make a small quilt when i was done with the larger one. Like getting my money's worth!
|
Fabrics.com has been very good for me as well. They even ship it via the postal service for me - I had BIG problems with UPS not leaving my packages and sending them back to the sender!!!! So, when I order fabric I call and have it shipped via USPS - they don't charge me any extra for it either.

Showing coordinates is something that we go out of our way to do. We've actually put the fabrics next to each other, to be sure that they work well together. It's what you would do if you were shopping in person, right? We don't just show you coordinates from the same collection; we include fabrics from any of the three dozen brands we carry, if they are compatible, both in color and visual "texture". |

You're quite right, Ghostrider, that is definitely the most fun part of my job! It's less stressful than choosing what to order for the shop.
Funny thing is, I can look at a new fabric that I think doesn't have many "friends" and unexpectedly find a dozen or so fabrics that it goes perfectly with. For instance... Friday we got a box of FQs of Benartex's Harvest Reflections group, and in it was a terra-cotta-rust colored woodgrain. I "took it for a walk" through the shelves and found so many fabrics that it goes with, that now I'll HAVE to order that one too! Ok, maybe it's TOO much fun... (And yes, I have other much more boring tasks too...) |
